Description

The Role:

As an individual contributor Quality Engineer, this role will both proactively and reactively lead quality improvement initiatives and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues. This position will be engaged in driving resolution to complex quality concerns as well as providing support to other team members. Work is performed in an Engine component plant environment where a considerable amount of creativity and initiative is exercised, as well as a high level of independent judgment. The ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced manufacturing environment is critical for success in this role. This job is technical in nature.

What You'll Do:

  • Support day-to-day Quality needs of Manufacturing
  • Problem-solve (analyze data, determine root causes, develop implementation plans) and resolve issues which are affecting quality, assembly, or throughput
  • Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
  • Collaborate with cross functional-teams to identify and resolve quality issues
  • Develop and implement quality control processes and procedures to ensure product and process compliance
  • Provide guidance and support to other Quality Engineers
  • Ensure effective Quality Response across the area
  • Drive Continuous Improvement efforts related to Quality Systems implementation and execution
  • Monitor quality performance; Evaluate high reject rate areas and support reduction efforts
  • Support Plant Floor Change Management Projects
  • Support Supplier Quality improvement activities
  • Proactively identify & pursue opportunities to improve operations by reducing cost, reducing waste, improve quality, etc.
  • Coach and teach Quality Systems and BIQ
  • Position is primarily on 1st shift with some off shift support required

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering or equivalent technical degree
  • 2+ years of Quality or Process Engineering experience in Manufacturing, with plant floor experience
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours and off shift support as needed

  • Demonstrated knowledge of statistical methods as applied to process control
  • Demonstrated ability in managing complex and ambiguous tasks with minimal input from supervisor
  • Ability to interpret product part prints
  • Op Ex / Red X certification
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of quality systems and gaging methods
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
