Sr. Business Systems Analyst (BSA)

9+ month contract for a public sector client in Long Beach, CA.

This role will be hybrid ONSITE/REMOTE with onsite presence in Long Beach, CA on Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday each week. Thus, our client would prefer a person who lives in Southern CA.

The BSA will serve as liaison between business stakeholders and the Technology Strategy and Architecture (TSA) team as it executes initiatives based on the client s specific goals and needs. The BSA will assist TSA resources to evaluate and refine business requirements and to align technology solutions to meet organizational objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, document, and validate business and system requirements.
  2. Analyze existing systems and business processes to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  3. Develop as-is and to-be process flows, data models, and use cases to support solution design.
  4. Identify and quantify benefits and/or incremental cost for proposed changes based on feasibility studies and impact analyses.
  5. Translate requirements into detailed functional and technical specifications for developers.
  6. Support testing activities, including test case development, execution, and defect tracking.
  7. Provide training, documentation, and support to end-users.
  8. Act as a subject matter expert for assigned systems and applications

Required Knowledge and Experience

  1. Bachelor s degree in information systems, computer science, management information systems or equivalent experience.
  2. 3-5 years of experience as a business systems analyst or related role.
  3. Strong analytical/problem-solving skills with capability to identify solutions to unusual and complex problems.
  4. Ability to handle ambiguity and form and communicate recommendations with limited data
  5. Strong knowledge of systems analysis techniques and practices, the software development lifecycle (SDLC), requirements management, DevOps
  6. Proficiency with business analysis and presentation tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Visio, Lucidchart, PowerPoint, etc.)
  7. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  8. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Desired Skills/Knowledge

  1. Experience with database concepts and querying and reporting tools (SQL, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.)
  2. Demonstrated experience working in a team environment
  3. Business analysis certification (e.g., CBAP, CCBA, CBDA)

We would prefer candidates who are LOCAL to the Southern CA area. A VIDEO interview will be required.
