Title: Forward Deployed Procurement Domain Engineer Location: Canada, Calagary / USA remote
Duration 6-12 months

The Forward Deployed Procurement Domain Engineer (FDE) acts as the vital embedded liaison between the Client's Procurement leadership and the Provider's technical Squad. The FDE translates complex, real-world Manufacturing and Procurement requirements directly into actionable feedback for the AI and Full Stack engineers. This role is crucial for ensuring the Procurement AI system, is accurate, trustworthy, and functionally integrated for high-stakes business operations.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

1. Agentic Logic and Requirements Translation

Active Requirements Vetting: Work directly with the Client Business Analyst to provide immediate, authoritative domain context for complex terms and legal requirements within the Manufacturing sector.
Agent Tooling Guidance: Advise the AI and Full Stack Engineers on the necessary tools (e.g., database lookups, external API calls) the CAI agent needs to accurately complete its complex tasks (e.g., validating extracted data against a master rate sheet).
AI Output Translation: Translate the technical output of the agent's reasoning chain and actions back into clear, auditable business language for Procurement/AP teams.

2. Agent Accuracy and Validation Authority (FDE Core Function)
Agent Reasoning Review: Actively participate in the AI development process by reviewing the agent's intermediate thought process and decisions. Provide targeted feedback to the AI Engineer on why a specific agent action or step in the reasoning chain was correct or incorrect based on domain truth.
Validation Authority: Serve as the final Accountable party for formally approving the agent's overall performance and autonomy against defined metrics for high-value contract processing.
Risk Mitigation: Proactively flag autonomous decisions made by the agent that could lead to financial or compliance risk, allowing the Squad to iterate the agent's logic immediately.

3. Workflow and System Integration
Audit Trail Design: Collaborate with the UX/UI Designer to ensure the CAI interface includes a robust and clear mechanism for users to audit the agent's decision history and final output, building user trust.
UAT Strategy: Guide the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) process, focusing test scenarios on evaluating the agent's performance on real-world edge cases and exceptions from the Procurement domain.
Deployment Readiness: Support the Client Product Owner in confirming the business is ready for the technical handover, ensuring the autonomous nature of the CAI is understood and accepted.

Required Skills and Experience
Agentic/AI Context: Strong functional understanding of AI Agents, LLM reasoning chains, and tool-use architectures to communicate effectively with the Provider's AI engineers.
Forward Deployment Mindset: Proven ability to work effectively as an embedded resource within a technical development team while championing the interests of the business sponsor.
Domain & Industry Depth: Minimum 5-10 years of experience in Procurement or Strategic Sourcing with specific experience in Manufacturing contracts and supply chain complexity.
Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to quickly analyze a problem and propose a solution that addresses both the agent's logic flaw and the business compliance requirement.
