AWS Cloud Admin w/RedShift & RDS (Hybrid - NJ)


We are looking to hire a candidate with the skills sets mentioned and experience for one of our clients within the pharmaceutical Industry. This is a Hybrid role, 3 Days Onsite (Titusville, NJ).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the optimization and administration of relational databases (AWS / Redshift OR AWS RDS, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL) to ensure security, performance, and availability.
  • Enhance and optimize ETL pipelines, improving throughput, reliability, and maintainability of data flows.
  • Installing and maintaining your AWS environment by following best practices.
  • Configuring and maintaining adequate security parameters. Implementing an information assurance policy, procedures, and reporting.
  • Configuring EMR clusters, managing EMR security and access control, optimizing EMR performance and costs, troubleshooting EMR issues, and integrating EMR with other AWS services.
  • Designing schema, access patterns, locking strategy, SQL development, and tuning for RDS databases (MySQL, PostgresSQL, ORACLE, etc.).
  • Configuring the parameter group, managing IP traffic using a security group, auditing the database log files, planning backup and recovery strategies, user management, and monitoring the database for RDS databases.
  • Tune and configure databases for performance as business requirements evolve and upstream system changes are introduced.
  • Implement and manage database monitoring, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Proper planning, communication and coordination with teams before upgrades are applied, ensure 100% uptime, access issues are resolved in time and within agreed SLAs.
  • Keep the Project/Programs teams about the Memory, Hard Disk Usage and take a proactive measure to avoid outages and non-availability of services.
  • Work with business, IT and/or project teams to gather the requirements to define the technical solution to be built and operated on Cloud.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience directly related to System Administration, including installation and maintenance of software and hardware.
  • Certifications or experience with cloud infrastructures such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience and expertise in deploying, managing, and operating various required systems/Services on the given AWS platform.
  • Working experience with Amazon Elastic MapReduce (EMR) to process and analyze large-scale data sets using frameworks such as Apache Spark, Apache Hadoop, Apache Hive, Apache Pig, etc.
  • Experience supporting AWS products such as: AWS Console root user administration, Key Management, EC2 Compute, S3 Storage, Relational Database Service (RDS), AWS Networking & Content delivery (VPC, Route 53, ELB, etc.), Identity & Access Management, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Cloud Formation, Auto Scaling, Cost and Usage Reports, and more.
  • Experience administering Red Hat Linux based systems to include patching, user management, and security, upgrades, client/server applications.
  • Familiar with version control systems such as git, Bit Bucket, etc.
  • Proficient in monitoring tools for cost and performance of various services in the environment and identify and recommend improvements wherever there is a scope.
  • Strong hardware/software troubleshooting skills help various project/development teams to resolve issues they may be facing.
  • Strong analytic and research skills - must be detail oriented.

  • Location: Hybrid, 3 Days Onsite (1125 Trenton Harborton Road, Titusville, NJ 08560). Duration: 6 months with high possibility of extension.
  • Estimated Start Date: ASAP
  • Pay Rate: $80 on C2C and $70 on W-2.
  • Required: ID proof.
