Job Overview:
GE Aerospace is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to work on Network Operations which is an advanced product suite of digital solutions for commercial airlines designed to help manage and mitigate disruptions. Essential Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for owning the product development backlog with the rest of the development and product team across the globe. This ownership includes development of features/user stories that are defined and prioritized by Product Management team, delivery of the commitments on time, coordination with the team to figure out best potential solution for our customers, enable secure and continuous delivery with hitting quality targets. You will be practicing Agile Software Development practices for everything you do.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

In this role, you will:
  • Act as a member of the global product engineering development team, representing the face of high-quality design and development practices
  • Develop high performing, scaling and innovative commercial software products that will help aerospace industry.
  • Collaborate with PO, devops, security and software engineers to implement solutions that are aligned with and extend shared platforms and solutions
  • Apply principles of Agile Software Development, CI/CD, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring, and Testing Techniques
  • Develop code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the product.
  • Understand performance parameters and assess application performance
  • Work on core data structures and algorithms and implement them using language of choice
  • Demonstrate the ability to make informed technology choices after due diligence and impact assessment
  • Understand whole product, its modules and the interrelationship between them while being an expert in the assigned component or module
  • Be an expert in assessing application performance and optimizing/improving it through design and best coding practices
  • Work with Product Line Leaders (PLLs) and customers to understand product requirements & vision

Education Qualification
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or in "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
  • Professional experience in Software development industry as Staff Software Engineer.
  • At least 10 years of industry experience.
  • GE Leadership Program Graduates will get credit towards relevant work experience, commensurate to the program they have completed.

Eligibility Requirements: (Country Specific)
  • This role is based in Austin, TX USA
  • Hybrid working (both from office and from home)
  • There will be need to meet in person in the office periodically for meetings/team events and any other occasions needed.

Technical Expertise:

  • Strong knowledge of Object Oriented Analysis and Design, Software Design Patterns and Java coding principles
  • Hands-on experience in utilizing Spring Framework (Core, MVC, Integration and Data)
  • Experience in microservice architecture
  • Experienced/Willing to work as full stack developer
  • Development experience with databases such as PostgreSQL and non-relational databases ( NoSQL, Redis )
  • Experience with front-end frame-works and libraries, Angular experience is a plus
  • Knowledgeable about code repository/version control process and managing dependencies.
  • Experience with Azure ( Blobstore, Eventhub, Servicebus)
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with developing applications that is working with real time systems.
  • Deployment, dependency management, version control experience
  • Hands on experience on platform and configuration management using Spring Boot
  • Experience in unit testing frameworks like JUnit and in Test Driven Development
