Job Details

Duration: Possibility of extension, possibility of full time employment

Location: US Remote, resource must be able to report to an office 10-20% (on a monthly basis) to one of Client Hubs (Boston, Miami or NYC preferred or Dallas)

Description:
The Cloud Platform Engineer is a skilled technical professional responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining cloud-based systems and infrastructure within a specific cloud platform (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
This role focuses on building and optimizing the technical foundation that supports applications, services, and data in the cloud environment.

Responsibilities:
Cloud Infrastructure Design: Collaborate with architects and development teams to design cloud infrastructure that meets scalability, performance, security, and availability requirements.
Infrastructure Deployment: Implement cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation), ensuring consistency and repeatability of deployments.
Platform Services Management: Set up and configure cloud services such as virtual machines, containers, databases, networking components, and other resources required for application deployment.
Automation and Orchestration: Coordinate with DevOps Teams to develop and maintain automation scripts and workflows to streamline provisioning, configuration, and management of cloud resources.
Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Implement monitoring and alerting systems to ensure the health and performance of cloud infrastructure. Troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise.
Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices, access controls, and compliance measures to safeguard data and resources within the cloud environment.
Scalability and Performance Optimization: Optimize cloud infrastructure to handle varying workloads, ensuring optimal performance and responsiveness.
CI/CD Integration: Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate cloud infrastructure with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
Backup and Disaster Recovery: Design and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data protection and business continuity.
Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of cloud infrastructure, configurations, and procedures. Share knowledge with team members and stakeholders.
Vendor Management: Stay updated on the latest cloud platform features, updates, and services. Evaluate and recommend new services that align with business needs.

Core Requirements:
3-5 years hands on experience
Engineering mindset (solution oriented), being pragmatic in finding how to test, how to solve
Experience in banking, regulated environment and understand what compliance / evidence entails for the cloud Engineering
Communication skills, able to describe why a test case failed, what the risk is, how to remediate
Working ability and expertise on writing AWS IaC, SCPs, managed rules, guardrails, hands-on approach, delivering code
Infra As Code
