Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Electrical/Hardware Engineer for the RWESS, supporting the Redstone Test Center Army Division. The Redstone Test Center, Advanced Instrumentation and Products division (ECA) develops and supports testing systems for various DoD munitions, performing both non-destructive testing at the component and full-up level and supporting live fire missions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in the designated technical area of specialization from an accredited university and 9 years of combined engineering and technical experience, including 6 years of project experience; or:
  • Master's Degree in the designated technical area of specialization from an accredited* university and 7 years of combined engineering and technical experience, including 4 years of project experience.
  • PhD in Engineering in the appropriate area of specialization or related discipline from an accredited* college/university and 5 years of applicable experience, including 2 years of project experience, performing engineering, analysis, and related functions in research, development, test, and evaluation in support of military equipment and systems.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance (U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants)
  • Must have 5 years of experience with the development of multilayer printed circuit boards.
  • Must have experience with Altium designer or experience with similar software that will translate into a quick understanding of Altium.
  • Must have experience generating drawings and communicating requirements to vendors for the ordering of custom PCBs.
  • Strong skills in electronic design and troubleshooting, to include analog, digital circuits, and FPGA's.
  • Ability to use test equipment such as digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc. to determine specifications for and/or troubleshoot equipment and circuits.
  • Must understand mechanical concepts such as packaging and user interfacing.
  • Hands-on experience with the integration of COTS and custom equipment and circuits is desired.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Understanding of C++ coding is preferred.
  • Understanding of FPGA programming language such as Verilog or VHDL is preferred.
  • Experience with soldering, using multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and spectrum and network analyzers is preferred.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with a team comprised of other engineers, project managers, SMEs, and technicians to determine system requirements and plan development.
  • Use Altium Designer to develop new circuits, or modify existing circuits, to meet system requirements.
  • Develop new PCBs or modify existing PCBs, obtain quotes from board houses for PCB fabrication, and provide BoMs and support to technicians populating PCBs for system development and fielding.
  • Work with programmers to implement software interfacing for custom and commercial electronics.
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance to the technician team for testing systems.
