Database Administrator 2 - Oracle Performance & Data Services Support
Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid / Onsite as Required)
Duration: 3+ Months (Contract, possible extension)

iSphere is seeking a Database Administrator 2 to support a high-performance Administrative Applications team focused on mission-critical data systems. This role will contribute directly to operational support, performance optimization, and database modeling in a large, complex Oracle environment. The ideal candidate will be experienced in managing Oracle systems across production and non-production environments, skilled in performance tuning, and confident in both logical and physical data modeling.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Oracle database administration support across Production, Development, and UAT environments.

  • Monitor and optimize database performance and locking issues; implement long-term monitoring solutions to ensure performance health.

  • Design and maintain logical and physical data models, including schemas, stored procedures, and custom scripts.

  • Collaborate with the Data Warehouse and application teams to fulfill data-related requests and ensure consistency and integrity across systems.

  • Analyze and tune SQL queries; execute Oracle performance diagnostics and problem resolution.

  • Evaluate and implement database changes; support performance tuning activities before, during, and after application migrations.

  • Manage and monitor scheduled backups; implement and test recovery processes in accordance with disaster recovery policies.

  • Perform EIR Accessibility compliance checks on user interfaces, ensuring input/output/reporting functions are accessible via assistive technologies.

  • Participate in on-call support rotation for high-availability systems.

  • Contribute to data dictionary management, security protocols, and performance threshold benchmarking.

  • Assist with software installations, data modeling, and selection of new DBMS technologies as needed.


Minimum Requirements

Years Required Experience
6 Required Experience in Oracle database design, analysis, and performance tuning
6 Required Experience with Oracle database structures, data analysis, and scripting for performance optimization
6 Required Proven ability to design and support enterprise applications or services in multi-tier environments
6 Required Experience authoring technical and functional database documentation
6 Required Familiarity with the software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum)
6 Required Experience with multi-tier or service-oriented architectures (SOA, Microservices, 3-Tier apps)
4 Preferred Experience working with data warehouse systems and/or database reporting solutions
1 Preferred Experience with Jira for issue and project tracking
1 Preferred Oracle Certification (e.g., OCP, OCA)
