Storage and Virtualization Engineer to provide support for the migration of Cybershift from its current cloud implementation to in-house, on-premise DOE servers. The Virtualization Engineer will be responsible for: - Overseeing the design, implementation, operation, and security of the server, storage, backup, hyper-converged hardware, and VMware SDDC software environments hosting the DOE Cybershift system.
- Monitoring and effectively troubleshooting and maintaining web, data, and service servers, connections to digital time clocks, and associated software to ensure optimal availability.
- Designing and implementing storage and backup architecture solutions, load balancing, server clustering, data replication, and configuration management.
- Automating infrastructure configuration and deployment tasks when required.
OUTLINE OF RESPONSIBILITIES - Leads, develops, configures, maintains, supports, and optimizes all new and existing storage, hyper- converged, and server hardware and VMware SDDC software.
- Recommends hardware and server requirements and builds application environments.
- Plans, oversees, and documents all aspects of assigned project; works closely with upper management and other departments to ensure that the scope and direction of this project is on schedule.
- Provides senior level solutions for the development of complete architecture according to business requirements and provides automation solution specific to virtualization implementations based on executive-level IT strategies.
- Confirms the conformance of applications, components, and services to established standards.
- Ensures compliance with architecture standards and guidelines throughout the application development lifecycle.
- Performs numerous assessments, designs application-specific solution, and implements multi-phased, complex migration project.
- Develops and maintains IT architecture diagrams of enterprise, business, data, security and/or technology architectures for IT solutions, concepts, and strategies to meet business requirements for target audiences.
- Develops, implements, provisions, and troubleshoots storage, server, and virtualization infrastructure.
- Provides performance and capacity management/projections.
MANDATORY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The successful candidate must have minimally achieved the following level of experience: - 8+ years of experience working in Hyper-Converged compute environments, multi-tiered storage architectures, and all aspects of component connectivity.
- 8+ years of experience of working with Enterprise Storage solutions (Dell EMC VPLEX, VxRail, VxRack, vSAN, ScaleIO, Pure storage, Rubrik) design, implementation, and administration.
- 8+ years of experience in hands-on configuration and design knowledge of VMware SDDC software stack.
- 8+ years of experience in hands-on configuration and design knowledge of PowerShell and Azure ARM templates and Azure CLI.
PREFERABLE QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor's Degree or a Master's degree in computer science from an accredited college.
- Prior education industry/project experience.
- Strong oral, written, and presentation skills; ability to communicate in a credible and confident manner at all levels in the organization in clear, concise language.
- Experience in multiple hardware and software environments; comfortable with complex heterogeneous systems environments.
- Exposure to Cisco ACI and other application-level provisioning and hosting technologies.
