Job Summary

Supporting the mid-market team (mid-to-low range energy customers) and focusing on commercial and industrial clients. The role involves managing relationships, pursuing opportunities within customer accounts, and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.

This position requires someone with significant experience in energy efficiency programs, strong customer relationship management skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, require minimal training, and be able to hit the ground running within the second week of joining.


Job Responsibilities

  • Support mid-market energy customers, focusing on commercial and industrial clients.

  • Oversee the performance of vendor(s), both office and field, contracted to deliver program services.

  • Manage employee performance and ensure compliance with safety protocols and practices.

  • Lead and participate in cross-functional teams including members from Customer Care, Contracting, Procurement, Legal, Marketing, IT, and other departments as required to deliver program services.

  • Enhance program delivery and customer experience, resolving business and customer issues effectively.

  • Develop and maintain processes for implementing energy efficiency projects and programs in accordance with BPU-approved requirements.

  • Provide oversight for business controls, process improvement, and compliance.

  • Ensure accurate invoice processing and identify opportunities for automation and process enhancements.

  • Monitor program Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure delivery meets business plan expectations.

  • Prepare and present program and project status reports to senior management.

  • Foster an inclusive work environment and demonstrate respect for diversity in all forms.

  • Perform special projects as assigned.

  • During storm restoration or emergency efforts, may be required to perform duties outside of normal scope or schedule.


Job Requirements

  • Strong background in energy efficiency programs, with 7+ years of experience (10 years preferred).

  • Proven ability to manage vendor performance and lead cross-functional teams.

  • Hands-on experience supporting or managing energy efficiency or electric vehicle programs.

  • Excellent customer relationship and communication skills, with focus on customer satisfaction and retention.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and deliver high-quality results with minimal supervision.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Word).

  • Valid U.S. driver s license.

  • Ability to work remotely with occasional travel to Newark or other regional sites as required.


Educational Qualifications

  • Required:

    • Bachelor s Degree in Management, Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field.

    • In lieu of a degree, 11 years of relevant experience in energy efficiency programs, construction, or a related field.

  • Preferred:

    • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification.

    • MBA or other advanced degree.
