Resource 1 has an urgent need for a Sr. Business Analyst who can start a new project immediately. This is a hybrid-onsite contract role in downtown Chicago. Our client is located in the River North area and selected candidate must be able to work onsite 4-5 days per week. The Sr. BA will be part of an implementation/release of a critical, home-grown software product. This is a complex financial system, so experience with financial, actuarial, or accounting related systems is highly preferred due to the data-heavy, calculation-intensive nature of the application. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to ensure the successful rollout of a critical internal product release.
Responsibilities:
- Write, update, and manage user stories within Azure DevOps (ADO) depending on test outcomes, functional requirements, enhancement requests, and evolving project needs.
- Execute existing test cases and make enhancements as necessary for a wide range of tests (regression, functional, UAT, automation, etc.), and write new test cases when needed.
- Work with high-level stakeholders, business leaders (VPs, etc.), and cross-functional teams, including development, QA, architecture, product management, etc., to gather feedback, manage expectations, and facilitate UAT. Must demonstrate strong communication and professionalism across all organization levels.
- Follow Agile methodology with 2-week sprints and daily standup meetings.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in an enterprise environment.
- Extensive user story development experience.
- Prior experience working on financial, actuarial, or accounting systems
- Working experience with Azure DevOps (ADO).
- Ability to execute UAT and regression test cases, identify test gaps, and author new test cases where needed.
- The ability to communicate professionally with all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated self-sufficiency, proactive problem-solving, and a consistent record of reliability in independent and team-based environments.
- Prior experience with a major software implementation/release would be a plus.
