Job Details

Vaco has partnered with a rapidly growing national brand headquartered in Tempe that is entering a major identity modernization phase. The organization is consolidating multiple legacy identity platforms into Microsoft Entra ID (previously Azure AD) and needs a senior-level engineer to lead large-scale implementation and unification efforts. This environment spans 1,000 retail locations and 10,000 + identities, bringing unique challenges across devices, applications, and service accounts.

You’ll play a hands-on leadership role in designing, deploying, and optimizing the enterprise identity stack, driving Zero Trust adoption, automation, and secure access control. This is a true engineering position—not governance only—requiring someone who can build and implement complex identity solutions at scale.

Key Focus Areas

  • Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD Consolidation: Lead migration of hybrid AD and legacy IAM systems into a unified Entra ID environment.

  • Conditional Access & Zero Trust: Design and implement policies for MFA, passwordless authentication, device trust, and risk-based access across distributed users.

  • Privileged Access Management: Integrate JIT access, credential vaulting, and session monitoring to secure elevated accounts.

  • Identity Lifecycle Automation: Automate joiner-mover-leaver processes, attribute-based entitlements, and application provisioning.

  • Hybrid Environment Integration: Enable secure access across corporate, retail, and field systems including POS and kiosk endpoints.

  • Infrastructure as Code / Automation: Use Terraform, PowerShell, and CI/CD pipelines to automate IAM policy and configuration management.

What You’ll Do

  • Architect and implement enterprise-wide IAM solutions centered on Entra ID and Azure AD.

  • Design scalable RBAC and attribute-based access models for least-privilege enforcement.

  • Drive modernization of authentication methods (SSO, SAML, OAuth2, OIDC, FIDO2).

  • Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, and security teams to execute Zero Trust strategies.

  • Lead automation and integration efforts through scripting, APIs, and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Maintain governance, audit readiness, and compliance alignment (SOX, PCI DSS, etc.).

What You Bring

  • 7 + years in Identity and Access Management, with proven experience leading large-scale Entra ID / Azure AD implementations.

  • Hands-on background with hybrid identity migrations, Conditional Access, MFA, and device trust configuration.

  • Expertise in Terraform, PowerShell, and CI/CD automation for IAM environments.

  • Deep understanding of Zero Trust, RBAC, and lifecycle automation.

  • Familiarity with PAM/IGA solutions such as CyberArk or SailPoint.

  • Experience supporting distributed or retail environments preferred.

  • Strong cross-team collaboration skills and ability to translate security requirements into technical execution.

Why This Role

This is a pivotal opportunity to lead a full-scale Entra ID transformation for a national retail brand. You’ll design and deliver secure identity solutions that connect thousands of users and devices while shaping the foundation of a modern Zero Trust architecture. Expect high visibility, hands-on technical depth, and a collaborative culture that values engineering excellence—and good coffee.
