Job Description: Senior Network Architect (Cisco Routing and WAN Experience)

Overview:

Our client, a national leader in manufacturing, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Architect with expertise in Cisco Routing and WAN technologies. As a Senior Network Architect, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our organization's network infrastructure. You will be responsible for developing strategic network solutions, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security of their network environment. Your extensive knowledge of Cisco Routing and WAN technologies will be instrumental in driving successful consolidation of their WAN and network architecture, providing the roadmap for the future of the organization's network infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

1. Network Architecture Design: Design and develop scalable, high-performance network architectures, considering business requirements, future growth, and industry best practices. Provide technical leadership in developing network design documents, including network diagrams, specifications, and implementation plans.
2. Cisco Routing and WAN Expertise: Demonstrate expertise in Cisco Routing and Wide Area Network (WAN) technologies, including but not limited to Cisco routers, switches, protocols ( EIGRP, BGP), MPLS, VPNs, QoS, and WAN optimization. Stay up to date with the latest Cisco technologies and recommend their implementation as appropriate.
3. Network Implementation and Deployment: Lead and participate in network implementation projects, ensuring successful deployment of network solutions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network engineers, system administrators, and security professionals, to ensure seamless integration of network components.
4. Network Performance and Optimization: Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and propose optimization strategies to improve network efficiency, availability, and reliability. Conduct regular network audits to identify potential vulnerabilities and develop solutions to mitigate risks.
5. Network Security: Collaborate with the security team to implement robust security measures and controls within the network infrastructure. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations while maintaining network security best practices.
6. Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution: Provide expert-level support in diagnosing and resolving complex network issues. Act as an escalation point for network-related incidents and work towards their timely resolution. Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to minimize future network disruptions.
7. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain accurate network documentation, including network topology, configuration details, standard operating procedures, and best practices. Share knowledge and provide mentorship to junior team members, promoting professional growth within the organization.
8. Vendor and Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with vendors, service providers, and other external partners to evaluate and procure network equipment and services. Engage with stakeholders to gather business requirements, align network architecture with organizational goals, and communicate network design proposals effectively.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications CCNP is desired, CCIE is a plus, but not required.
2. Proven experience (at least 8-10 years) as a Network Architect or similar role, with a focus on designing and implementing large-scale enterprise networks.
3. Strong expertise in Cisco Routing and WAN technologies, including hands-on experience with Cisco routers, switches, protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), MPLS, VPNs, QoS, and WAN optimization.
4. Experience with Firewalls is highly desired (Palo Alto is a plus.)
5. Cisco wireless knowledge is a plus.
6. Solid understanding of network monitoring and management tools, network performance analysis, and capacity planning.
7. Proficient in network troubleshooting methodologies and tools, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
8. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical network designs.
9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
10. Desire for professional growth and development highly preferred.
