Job Details

We are seeking an experienced 5G RF Engineer to support the planning, design, optimization, and performance enhancement of advanced 5G wireless networks. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical knowledge of RF engineering principles, 5G NR architecture, and hands-on experience with industry-standard tools for design, simulation, testing, and optimization.

This role requires strong analytical expertise, field understanding, and the ability to work collaboratively with deployment, optimization, and operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, plan, and optimize 5G Radio Access Networks (RAN) using Massive MIMO, beamforming, and small-cell technologies.
  • Conduct RF site surveys, analyze propagation environments, and recommend optimal base-station locations.
  • Perform link budget analysis, RF design calculations, and coverage predictions using tools such as Atoll, Planet, Asset.
  • Define essential RF parameters including frequency, transmit power, antenna tilt, azimuth, bandwidth, and PCI planning.
  • Monitor and analyze network KPIs including throughput, latency, call drop rate, SINR, RSRP, RSRQ, and handover performance.
  • Troubleshoot RF and network-level issues such as interference, poor coverage, handover failures, and capacity bottlenecks.
  • Perform drive test data collection & post-processing using TEMS, Nemo, XCAL, Actix, Windcatcher.
  • Implement RF optimization actions including antenna tilt/azimuth changes, parameter tuning, and physical adjustments.
  • Work closely with deployment teams to validate site configuration, antenna systems, feeder lines, fiber, RRUs, and ensure compliance with RF design specs.
  • Ensure RF design meets regulatory guidelines such as FCC limits and safety standards.
  • Prepare detailed technical documentation, reports, and optimization plans for internal and client review.
  • Apply knowledge of 5G NR, LTE, and legacy 3G/4G technologies for interoperability and network improvement.
  • Utilize basic scripting/programming (Python/MATLAB preferred) for automation, KPI monitoring, and data analytics.
  • Support field technicians during site validation, troubleshooting, and operational readiness testing (ORT).

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor s or Master s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of 5G NR architecture, LTE, and previous-generation technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with RF planning/optimization tools including Atoll, iBwave, MapInfo.
  • Expertise in RF propagation models, antenna theory, and link budget calculations.
  • Familiarity with Massive MIMO, beamforming, mmWave, and small-cell architectures.
  • Proficiency with drive-test tools: TEMS, Nemo, XCAL and post-processing tools like Actix, Windcatcher.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
