Vaco is hiring an experienced Cisco Network Engineer for a full time, fully onsite role in downtown Cincinnati.

Candidates should be comfortable with working onsite 5 days a week (Monday through Friday). 

Vaco is hiring a Sr. Cisco Network Engineer responsible for the design, installation, maintenance, and support of an enterprise network infrastructure. This role works with minimal supervision, exercises sound judgment across an established range of decisions, escalates to management when appropriate, and provides regular status updates.


Position Responsibilities

  • Design, install, maintain, and support a large-scale enterprise network infrastructure.

  • Architect and engineer next-generation networking solutions.

  • Analyze network performance data and metrics, prepare reports, and recommend improvements to meet performance and availability objectives.

  • Stay current with networking trends to support new and evolving applications, incorporating industry standards and best practices.

  • Interface with vendor support teams for contract renewals and ensure proper escalation during outages or degraded performance events.

  • Participate in the implementation of disaster recovery solutions and execute periodic disaster recovery testing.

  • Provide training and mentorship to team members on technical topics and network design.

  • Perform Tier 3 network support for issues not resolved by Help Desk or Tier 2 teams.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

  • Proven ability to complete tasks accurately and on time, with examples of project planning, execution, and end-to-end delivery.


Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent relevant experience.


Desired Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience supporting large enterprise network environments using Cisco Catalyst and Nexus platforms.

  • Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting VPN and/or SASE solutions (preferred).

  • Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting firewalls; Check Point experience is a plus.

  • Knowledge of Software Defined Networking and/or cloud-based networking environments.

  • Experience with Cisco Catalyst Center.

  • Experience with Cisco security solutions such as Identity Services Engine (ISE).

  • Experience with Juniper Mist wireless technologies.

  • Strong understanding of network flow analysis tools.

  • Strong knowledge of routing protocols including OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, OMP, and/or MPLS.

  • Familiarity with VMware vCenter, ESXi 7.x, and Cisco Unified Computing Systems (UCS) is a plus.


Certifications & Licenses

  • Cisco CCNA or CCNP certification preferred.


Position Demands

  • Extended hours may be required during peak workloads or special projects.

  • Ability to provide off-hours support as needed, either remotely or on-site.

  • Occasional travel (less than 10%) to support remote locations, training, or technology conferences.
