Job Description:

The Technical Project Manager will serve as a hands-on leader responsible for managing complex IT infrastructure projects, coordinating resources, and ensuring timely and successful delivery.
This role involves collaboration with technical teams, vendors, consultants, and management while adhering to established project governance and standards.

Responsibilities:

Serve as a hands-on technical project manager working closely with development staff and business groups.
Coordinate and communicate with ITD management and staff regarding work tasks and resourcing.
Communicate project timelines, deliverables, and expectations to technical and business teams.
Collaborate with vendors, consultants, and contractors in project execution, including contract and procurement coordination.
Adhere to VDOT and VITA project management practices and governance requirements.
Maintain project budgets, plans, schedules, risks, and status reports.
Ensure proper documentation of requirements and use cases.
Facilitate design workshops and ensure testing objectives, plans, and test cases are defined.
Manage project milestones and deliverables to ensure on-time and on-budget completion.
Define, measure, and communicate project progress through metrics.
Support system and application training efforts.

Requirement / Must Have:

Minimum of 8 years of experience managing large-scale IT projects.
Bachelor s degree required.
Experience in IT infrastructure delivery including networking, physical plant, vendor management, and site provisioning.
Experience managing large, multi-stream projects.
PMP certification or qualification under the Qualification Standards for IT Project Managers for Category 4 Projects.

Should Have:

Experience with both Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies.
Agile Scrum Master certification preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Visio, PowerPoint, Project Server).

Qualification and Education:

Bachelor s degree required.
PMP certification from PMI or PM certification from VITA required.

Additional Information:
