Design and Release Engineer Steering

Overview:
Support the design, release, and development of steering system components (Steering Gear, I Shaft, Steering Column) for world-class electric vehicles, collaborating with cross-functional teams from concept to production.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead design/release activities for steering components.

  • Manage supplier technical development and ensure time, cost, and quality targets.

  • Conduct DFMEAs, DVPs, structural analysis, and bolted joint assessments.

  • Resolve virtual build/manufacturing issues and apply error-proofing solutions.

  • Use CAD, GD&T, and packaging studies to ensure part fit, form, and function.

  • Create/track Engineering Change Requests and support cost/quality improvements.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years automotive experience in safety-critical component design/release.

  • Proficiency in CATIA V5/V6, 3DX, and strong 3D CAD skills.

  • Knowledge of chassis/steering systems and safety-critical mechatronic/hydraulic systems.

  • Experience with requirements management, verification planning, and supplier/project management.

Education:

  • BS/BEng in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
