Senior Web Services Developer (Java / J2EE)

Location: Austin, TX (Onsite 5 days per week)
Contract: Long-Term

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be local to the Austin, TX area and able to work fully onsite

  • Must be able to work on a W2 basis only (no C2C, 1099, or third-party vendors)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Web Services Developer to design, develop, test, and support enterprise-level applications and integrations. This role requires deep experience across the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), strong Java/J2EE development skills, and the ability to work independently on complex technical initiatives.

The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, experience working with relational databases, and the ability to collaborate closely with business users, developers, and QA teams to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, develop, test, and document web services and enterprise applications.

  • Analyze user requests for new or enhanced functionality and determine feasibility, scope, cost, and timelines.

  • Develop technical specifications and solution designs using structured analysis and object-oriented methodologies.

  • Consult with business users to understand current processes and clarify program objectives.

  • Perform system integration testing and support deployment activities.

  • Develop and execute system test plans, test scenarios, and defect management processes.

  • Coordinate defect reporting and validate fixes in collaboration with development and QA teams.

  • Support relational database interactions, including SQL development and stored procedures.

  • Participate in peer reviews, design sessions, and implementation planning.

  • May lead or provide guidance to other technical team members as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience across the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, integration, and deployment.

  • 8+ years of experience with Java and J2EE technologies, object-oriented analysis and design, and relational database interactions.

  • 8+ years of experience developing and supporting web services and enterprise applications.

  • 8+ years of experience with SQL programming and working with relational databases, including understanding Oracle-based stored procedures.

  • 8+ years of experience with system integration testing and enterprise application environments.

  • 8+ years of experience facilitating collaboration across developers, business analysts, and QA teams while ensuring requirements are documented.

  • 8+ years of experience developing system test plans, test scenarios, schedules, and coordinating defect management.

  • Strong understanding of data structures, data migration/conversion, and relational database design concepts.

  • Proven ability to evaluate and translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with state or large enterprise systems.
