Job Details

Comtech is seeking a highly experienced Network/Telecom Specialist - Expert to lead a critical infrastructure project focused on the design, refresh, and implementation of Cisco/Meraki wireless, Cisco LAN, and Cisco ISE systems, as well as a UPS Battery Infrastructure refresh. This strategic position bridges the gap between expert-level network engineering and project execution. The successful candidate will be responsible for the complete design, implementation, and troubleshooting of this hardware and software, while also coordinating with business units and IT teams to obtain price quotes, provide documentation, and manage equipment installation. We are looking for a senior individual with 84+ months of hands-on experience specific to Cisco wireless, LAN, and ISE, excellent communications skills (verbal and written), and a proven ability to manage complex work efforts without assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implementation and troubleshooting of both the hardware and software necessary for a LAN and wireless computer network.
  • Specialization in Cisco/Meraki wireless products, methodologies, implementation and troubleshooting.
  • Extensive experience with Cisco LAN products, methodologies, implementation and troubleshooting
  • Extensive experience with Cisco ISE methodologies, implementation and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with rack-based UPS battery implementation, monitoring and alerting.
  • Work with business units on obtaining price quotes for new equipment and coordinating installation of purchased equipment and software.
  • Work with IT teams and management and provide reports, summaries and documentation for all tasks and projects worked on.

Daily task examples (including but not limited to):

  • Obtain and send price quotes to business units based on environment design
  • Coordinate equipment orders and installation/configuration
  • Equipment installation and configuration
  • Update Wireless Controllers to new version of Software
  • Update Cisco ISE to newer version - ISE 3.1.0 is the current Gold Star Release (requires new license model and requires a valid SSL Certificate on the Cisco Virtual ISE appliances)
  • Replace campus closet UPS batteries as needed.
  • Network UPS Units using network adapter card. Add UPS VLAN to that buildings for the UPS to use.
  • Update SNMP Strings/NTP/Username/Passwords on each Unit
  • Create a spreadsheet with Building and Room numbers of located units and if possible date of last installed battery.
  • Add UPS units to monitoring systems
  • Attend weekly meetings
  • Work with other IT teams as part of implementation projects
  • Create reports and summaries as needed.
  • Create systems documentation as needed.
