Job Title: Consulting Engagement Manager
Industry: Technology & Management Consulting – Banking and Fintech
Position Summary
We are seeking an accomplished and results-driven Consulting Engagement Manager with deep domain expertise in the banking and fintech industry. This role requires a seasoned professional with at least 15 years of experience leading complex, end-to-end consulting engagements. The ideal candidate has significant experience with banking technology platforms, a strong background in project delivery, and a strategic mindset for client development and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Engagement Delivery & Oversight
- Lead the planning, execution, and successful delivery of multiple, large-scale consulting engagements for financial institutions and fintech clients.
- Establish and manage engagement scope, timelines, resources, budgets, risks, and quality benchmarks.
- Ensure all project deliverables meet client expectations and internal standards for excellence.
Client Relationship & Satisfaction
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the engagement lifecycle.
- Build long-term relationships based on trust, responsiveness, and delivery excellence.
- Proactively identify and resolve delivery issues while continuously improving the client experience.
Team Management & Leadership
- Manage and mentor consulting teams assigned to your engagements, ensuring alignment to project goals, quality, and timelines.
- Foster a high-performing, collaborative team environment focused on accountability and innovation.
- Support talent development by providing coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations.
Sales & Business Development Collaboration
- Partner with business development and sales teams to identify growth opportunities within existing accounts.
- Contribute to proposal development, solution design, and client presentations.
- Assist in closing new business by demonstrating credibility, delivery capabilities, and value alignment with client objectives.
Banking & Fintech Expertise
- Leverage deep knowledge of core banking systems, digital banking platforms, and financial technology vendors.
- Apply hands-on experience with platforms such as ACI, S1, Bottomline Technologies, Q2, FIS, Client, Alkemi, Apiture, Finxact, and similar providers in project planning and execution.
- Advise clients on vendor selection, systems integration, digital transformation, and process improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Minimum 15 years of experience in consulting, with at least 10 years in managing full consulting engagements for banking or fintech clients.
- Demonstrated success managing multi-million-dollar consulting projects involving complex financial systems and vendor technologies.
- Strong working knowledge of major banking technology vendors and solutions across payments, core banking, digital channels, and risk/compliance.
- Prior experience as an Engagement Manager or Senior Manager with top consulting firms (e.g., EY, Client, Client, KPMG).
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and deliver results in high-pressure, client-facing environments.
- Exceptional client engagement, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, Finance, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
- Professional certifications (PMP, Agile, Six Sigma, or equivalent) are a plus.
- Experience supporting business development and contributing to revenue growth.
