Job Description:

Solution Architects handoff specs directly to Dev to be built. Hiring leader emphasized successful SAs having a Dev background to understand OpenAPI (formerly known as Swagger). I.e., If asked to design 3 new Services which are deployed to Kubernetes, is further code breakdown required for the Kubernetes? Also, SAs with a Dev background understand the complexities of whether OpenAPIs need backups defined, or whether source/version control could handle scenarios where code fails.

Solution Architect

• Role Summary: We're seeking a seasoned leader who has run a development shop and directly improved delivery quality. The ideal candidate will be capable of hands-on contributions but will not be expected to code regularly. Their expertise should include best practices in software engineering, RESTful services, and modernization of legacy systems.

Key Responsibilities & Challenges

• Address recent deployment issues that spiked CPU and memory usage to 120%.
• Refactor spaghetti code currently in production.
• Support the transition from BitBucket to CI/CD pipelines.
• Resolve versioning challenges.
• Implement solutions using Java, Kubernetes, and RESTful services.
• Align with the long-term goal of migrating to AWS by 2027.
• Exhibit strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to challenge assumptions and drive accountability.

Job Description

The Solution Architect translates functional requirements into technical architecture and design artifacts, guiding the development team in implementation. This role involves selecting appropriate technologies and ensuring scalable, maintainable solutions.
