This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford, MI three times per week or other frequency dictated by the business.
Relocation

The Role
Systems Engineering is a multidisciplinary organization that has been chartered with the goal of pulling together the highly complex and interconnected ecosystem that is the modern-day automobile. Systems Engineering transcends the physical nature of any specific design, cutting across traditional engineering disciplines to allow for a customer focused execution of vehicle level features and systems.
The Systems Integration Engineer (SIE) - Power Moding will be engaged with the vehicle development teams in ensuring the Power Moding Systems features / systems are integrated properly and verified to meet feature / system requirements. The SIE will support the development and validation of Power Moding features and systems by verifying functionality through sub-system benches, electrical benches, and vehicle testing. Lead requirement development using modeling, simulation, analysis, and customer studies, while identifying improvement opportunities. Act as the on-site expert for troubleshooting and resolving issues throughout the development cycle. You will gain hands-on experience across GM's entire vehicle lineup and contribute to shaping future enhancements in Power Moding systems. The SIE will be the program development team's contact person to resolve integration issues quickly by root causing issues and working with the responsible engineering teams for resolution.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
- Track program applicability of major features and/or system variants within assigned scope
- Troubleshoot vehicle level integration issues including hardware, software, calibration and vehicle wiring
- Data acquisition and root cause integration issues
- Document hardware and software anomalies (with assistance of Validation)
- Work with algorithm TRBs on algorithm/calibration issues to resolve issues
- Work with appropriate SMT DREs/BFOs to resolve issues
- Verify Feature functionality per System architecture variant on a bench/vehicle to ensure feature intent and identify improvement opportunities (i.e., structured exploratory evaluation, not line-by-line validation to requirements)
- Execute evaluation at periodic intervals including initial release and subsequent releases with major changes for earliest possible identification of feature or system gaps to expectations.
- Work with feature owners, system engineers and lead system validation engineers to ensure appropriate test cases are in place for all use cases (examples: normal operation, failed operation)
- Support automation, performance and/or validation engineer to allow for automated feature regression testing
- Educate/train/support/mentor new and less experienced Systems Integration Engineers
- Provide program-focused support as required:
- Integration support for development trips
- Assembly plant and field problem resolution
- Durability cars / Captured test fleet
- Usage profile definition/refinement
- Support feature benchmarking and clinic activities
- Assist feature owner and system engineers in determining evaluation parameters and methods
- Collect, summarize and interpret results as needed.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- BS in Engineering, Math, Physics, Computer Science, IT, Chemistry or relevant
- 2 years of product development experience
- Vehicle testing and instrumentation experience
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary, and globally distributed teams
- Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
- This position requires the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis and successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Report review
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred qualifications)
- MS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
- Verification/Validation/System Integration / development experience
- Data acquisition tool experience (e.g. Vehicle Spy, CANalyzer, INCA, WireShark, etc)
- Systems Engineering experience
- Understanding of Automotive controls and communications experience
- Data analysis (e.g. Matlab, Power BI, etc)
- Knowledge and experience with GM's Global Vehicle Development Process
