Description
We are looking for an experienced DB2 Database Administrator to join our client's team in a 100% Remote role. This Contract to permanent position offers an exciting opportunity to manage, optimize, and maintain critical database environments within the financial services industry. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of DB2 z/OS systems, ensuring their security, performance, and reliability while collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement best practices.
Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and maintain complex DB2 z/OS database systems to support business-critical applications.
Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and execute advanced tuning strategies to optimize efficiency.
Implement and oversee backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
Collaborate with developers, system architects, and IT leadership to enforce database security policies and best practices.
Automate administrative tasks to streamline database management and reduce manual effort.
Lead efforts in capacity planning and forecasting for database growth and infrastructure needs.
Provide mentorship to entry-level DBAs and contribute to strategic decisions regarding database architecture.
Troubleshoot and resolve advanced database issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
Recommend and implement significant changes to database design, collaborating with senior leadership for approval.
Develop and maintain disaster recovery strategies to safeguard critical data in case of emergencies.
Requirements
Minimum of 6 years of experience in database administration.
Expertise in DB2 z/OS database systems and their architecture.
Strong knowledge of relational database design and optimization techniques.
Hands-on experience with performance tuning and advanced troubleshooting.
Proficiency in backup and recovery procedures for large-scale databases.
Familiarity with IBM Db2 tools and z/OS operating systems.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple database environments.
Effective collaboration and communication skills to work with cross-functional teams.
