Job Title: Associate Pension Analyst
Location: Chicago, IL 60605
Duration: 36 Months
Job Description: We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Associate Pension Analyst to join a team responsible for processing pension benefits, refunds, and managing death and disability cases. This position involves benefit calculations, member file updates, and effective communication with members and beneficiaries to ensure timely and accurate service delivery.
Primary Responsibilities:
Review incoming refund applications and related documentation.
Terminate member records in the system upon notification of death.
Calculate and process pension benefits and refunds in accordance with plan policies.
Conduct peer reviews of documentation and eligibility/control reports.
Review disability applications and related materials.
Conduct beneficiary research and distribute death benefit applications.
Audit returned documents for completeness and accuracy.
Communicate with members and beneficiaries to collect necessary documents.
Interpret and apply legal documents such as trusts, estates, and Powers of Attorney (POA) in benefit processing.
Follow all plan provisions, policies, and procedures in benefits administration.
Reprint and distribute member statements as needed.
Assist with departmental projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Strong skills in mathematics, analysis, and critical thinking.
Effective time management and research abilities.
Excellent customer service and communication skills (written and verbal).
High attention to detail.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor s degree required; additional coursework or seminars in benefits administration preferred.
Related professional experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Occasionally lift or move items up to 5 pounds.
Extended periods of sitting; some standing and repetitive tasks required.
Work Environment:
Professional office setting with standard business equipment and frequent phone interaction.
