POSITION SPECIFICS

Penn State IT is seeking a Software Engineering - Application Developer (Advanced Professional Level) to establish and maintain best software development and design practices, design and develop software for multiple systems based on identified business needs and requirements and integrate more complex elements and technological advances into work assignments.

LOCATION

The location of this position is flexible and can operate fully remote within the United States, fully in-person at our University Park Campus, or in a hybrid model of both in-person and remote. Standard working hours are in the eastern time zone.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will be skilled in modern principles of software engineering and have a strong interest in User Experience (UX). Desired programming skills include Angular, Typescript, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, RxJS, and Google Material. Additional knowledge of continuous integration, Kubernetes, Docker, accessibility, responsiveness, and other programming languages is a plus.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
  • Participate in the development process by programming all or parts of some applications.
  • Work with the teams in the unit to coordinate support of ongoing production services and new initiatives, along with other groups throughout Penn State.
  • Coordinate efforts between the customer support, requirements, design, development and QA groups.
  • Stay current with trends and initiatives for software engineering and architecture and meet compliance regulations specific for Higher Education solutions.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience acceptedRequired Certifications:None

SALARY & BENEFITS
The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $76,700.00 - $115,100.00.
