Job Details

Our client is seeking a strategic and results-driven Program Manager with strong Fleet Management experience to lead cross-functional initiatives related to transportation, operations, and business transformation. This role will focus on managing programs that drive optimization and compliance across our school transportation fleet operations. The ideal candidate will be PMP certified, highly organized, and experienced in leading large-scale programs across field operations, transportation, and mobility services.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Fleet Program Leadership: Lead initiatives related to vehicle operations, maintenance optimization, telematics, route efficiency, and fleet compliance.

Strategic Planning: Partner with operations, IT, and field teams to align strategic priorities related to fleet performance, safety, and service delivery.

Stakeholder Management: Engage field leaders, maintenance teams, vendors, and executive sponsors to ensure alignment and manage expectations.

Program Governance: Oversee risk, scope, milestones, and reporting. Develop controls for fleet-based initiatives and ensure proper escalation.

Change Management: Integrate fleet and transportation-related changes into training, communications, and operational plans.

Continuous Improvement: Evaluate data from vehicle tracking systems and fleet performance metrics to drive operational improvements.

Cross-Functional Coordination: Lead project cadences across departments such as dispatch, maintenance, safety, compliance, and operations.

 

Additional Responsibilities

Define and execute programs to improve cost efficiency, reliability, and scalability of fleet operations.

Develop KPIs and dashboards (e.g., vehicle utilization, on-time performance, fuel efficiency) using BI tools like Power BI.

Coordinate vendor deliverables and ensure adherence to fleet technology standards (e.g., GPS, maintenance tracking systems).

Facilitate lessons learned sessions and share best practices in fleet operations across business units.

Lead project communication with executive stakeholders on the progress of fleet-related initiatives.

Manage and mentor internal team members and/or indirect project resources.

 

Required Qualifications

PMP Certification Required

Bachelor s Degree Required (Master s preferred)

7+ years of project/program management experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role

3+ years of experience in Fleet Management, Transportation, or Logistics operations

Deep understanding of vehicle operations, fleet telematics, preventive maintenance programs, and route optimization

Proficient in tools such as Smartsheet, MS Project, and Microsoft Office Suite

Experience using BI tools (Power BI preferred)

Experience with Change Management methodologies (Prosci a plus)

Strong experience working with and managing vendor deliverables

Ability to travel

 

Desired Skills & Competencies

Familiarity with fleet systems (e.g., GPS tracking, maintenance software, route scheduling platforms)

Strong presentation and stakeholder influence skills across field and executive levels

Experience with remote and distributed teams

Knowledge of Agile, Lean, and traditional project delivery methodologies

Excellent verbal and written communication and active listening skills

Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, unstructured environment and drive clarity across diverse teams

 

 

Salary: $130,000 - 140,000 per year
