Lead VR Engineer

Introduction

Trilogy NextGen is seeking a Lead VR Engineer with expertise in Unreal Engine to spearhead the technical development of a specialized VR driving simulation application for the Meta Quest platform. This role involves solving complex hardware integration challenges and optimizing performance to deliver a cutting-edge VR experience.

Responsibilities

• Simulation Architecture: Architect and build the core C++ framework for a scalable, physics-based driving simulation optimized for Meta Quest.
• Complex Hardware Integration: Lead the R&D required to interface USB/Bluetooth HID peripherals directly with the Quest's Android OS.
• Performance Optimization: Ensure stable FPS on mobile chipsets while maintaining high visual fidelity for a comfortable VR experience.
• Technical Leadership: Define best practices for real-time simulation, mentor developers, and align the product with strategic goals.
• Future-Proofing: Design the application to leverage Trilogy's Private 5G/Edge Compute infrastructure for future enhancements.

Requirements

• Expertise: 7+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years in C++ within Unreal Engine.
• VR Proven Track Record: Shipped at least one commercial VR title or enterprise simulation on standalone mobile hardware.
• Hardware Hacker Mentality: Experience integrating non-standard peripherals into Unreal Engine and working with Android NDK.
• Physics & Math: Strong understanding of 3D math, vehicle dynamics, and physics engine constraints on limited hardware.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Android native development (NDK/JNI).
• Background in automotive simulation, serious games, or defense training applications.
• Understanding of network-dependent applications aligning with Trilogy's core business.
