Description
TEKsystems is looking for a qualified Desktop Support Specialist to support our ongoing mission in Killeen, TX. This role is a full-time, 40-hour/week (Monday - Friday) position providing tiered IT support operations at Carl R Darnall Medical Center (CRDAMC), with satellite clinics.
Overview:
The Desktop Support Specialist's role is to provide Tier II/III desktop support to the staff on all CRDAMC user level information technology resources (desktops/laptops, printers, scanners, etc.). This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing assigned PC-based infrastructure. Works within a tiered system of support receiving customer tickets via a Service Now work order system, documenting work efforts within Service Now, resolving tickets within Service Now and/or elevating those tickets to higher levels of support (i.e Server Administration, Network Administration, Cyber, etc.).

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Providing analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of hardware/software products.
- Map network drives, install peripherals using remote access such as print drivers, changing software settings, and other basic level IT work.
- Able to accomplish administrative work such as, but not limited to, new user check-ins.
- Set up, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair PC's, peripheral components, and standard software packages.
- Install Commercial of the Shelf (COTS) and Government off the Shelf (GOTS) software including but not limited to, MS Windows 10, MS Office, VPN software and other hospital specific software (normally for MS Windows).
- Provide functional use recommendations related to software, hardware and network.
- Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and other contractors to ensure desktop products and services are delivered.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
What You Bring:
- Some lifting up to 40 pounds may be required.
- May be required to work outside the traditional work schedule. May be called out to work off-shift for on-call or emergency situations. An equivalent amount of compensatory time will be scheduled to maintain a roughly 40-hour work week.
- Minimum certifications required are CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Security+. A Microsoft Desktop certification (MCSA Win10, MCTS, MCDST) is preferred over A+ but not required.
- Must be able to pass a government Tier III investigation
