Job Description:

  • The Test Engineer P&C 1 (Network Underground Services - Protection & Control (P&C) Test Engineer) Bachelor s degree in engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred) or Associate's degree in a technical field (Electronics, Electrical, Maintenance Technology, etc.) NUS Test Engineer, P&C is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of Network Underground Systems across Georgia, including Atlanta, Macon, Columbus, Augusta, Athens, Savannah, and Valdosta.
  • This role involves hands-on work with energized equipment up to 600vac in below-grade, enclosed spaces, writing and executing switching orders, and utilizing hot line tools for medium voltage circuit switching (4KV to 25KV).
  • The engineer will support the implementation and maintenance of SCADA system monitoring technologies and sump pump controllers, participate in an on-call rotation, and respond to system emergencies and customer concerns.
  • Effective communication with high- profile customers and internal teams is essential to maintain the highest standards of service and satisfaction.
  • Note: This position requires 24/7 on-call availability (rotating schedule), paid overtime, and statewide travel, sometimes on short notice for extended periods, including overnight stays, weekends, and holidays.
  • A valid Georgia driver s license and not to exceed a maximum weight of 274lbs are required at all times.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong knowledge of electrical system operations, distribution systems, and underground construction practices.
  • Familiarity with SCADA, RTU, PLC, DCS, and HMI systems is preferred.
  • Proficiency in reading electrical wiring diagrams, troubleshooting equipment, and making safe, quick decisions.
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse conditions and access below-grade, confined spaces using ladders (25ft+).
  • Proficiency with MS Office and engineering software.
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to build relationships with customers, engineers, sales, corporate partners, and crew personnel.
