Job Details

DevOps Engineer with Trading experience

Must be onsite in San Diego, CA (onsite)

Must-have skill requirements of the role 2+ years of professional experience working in support of a trading business / end users within a financial services company.

Experience in the Muni area a plus - but open to experience in any asset class

Experience with scripting / coding / software development in at least one major language. Python and/or C# experience preferred - but Java, C, C++, or any major language is acceptable. Experience designing, coding, testing, and delivering software

Strong focus on automation of routine tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention

Proven expertise in troubleshooting complex technical issues, managing incidents end-to-end, and implementing robust problem resolution strategies in a high-pressure trading environment System and network administration and troubleshooting skills (Unix and Windows), cloud related technologies (Kubernetes, AWS, Azure), and knowledge of infrastructure components (e.g. routers, load balancers, compute, storage, and networks) Proficiency with any major RDBMS Understanding of ITIL concepts (Incident, Problem, Change, Configuration management)

Contract description

  • Act as the primary point of contact for business users of a complex Muni trading platform, ensuring effective communication and support.
  • Build telemetry and observability solutions to enhance platform performance and reliability.
  • Conduct incident analysis and mitigation, facilitating blameless postmortems to prevent future occurrences.
  • Analyze user queries, service requests, and incidents to optimize workflows and reduce operational toil.
  • Collaborate closely with development, infrastructure, and third-party vendor teams to enhance system capabilities and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Experience with scripting / coding / software development in at least one major language. Python and/or C# experience preferred - but Java, C, C++, or any major language is acceptable. Experience designing, coding, testing, and delivering software
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience supporting a trading business within a financial services company; experience in Muni trading is a plus.
  • Proficiency in scripting or coding in at least one major programming language (Python or C# preferred).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for complex technical issues in a high-pressure trading environment, with a focus on automation.
  • Familiarity with system and network administration (Unix and Windows), cloud technologies (Kubernetes, AWS, Azure), and monitoring software tools.
