Mechanical Engineer/ Designer

Job Summary:
The Mechanical Engineer/ Designer serves to design HVAC systems for buildings such as schools, retail/mixed-use spaces, and commercial spaces. As a Salas O'Brien Mechanical Designer, you will join a highly skilled team of designers pursuing engineering excellence in new and existing buildings with significant leadership opportunity and exposure to premier clients.
The project clientele includes K-12 Education, Higher Education, Commercial, Health Care, Science and Technology, and municipal, institutional facilities and resorts in the Caribbean!

General Duties:
- Design Heating, Ventilating & Air Conditioning Systems for various types of facilities
- Produce mechanical design drawings in AutoCAD and/or Revit software
- Perform field investigations
- Coordinate quality control, scheduling, and programming
- Coordinate and communicate information and progress with all three disciplines (mechanical, electrical and plumbing)
Skills:
- Demonstrated facilitation experience
- Proficiency in Revit, Auto CAD and MS Office
- Strong understanding of duct design, piping design, air handlers, heat pump, and boiler systems
- Experience with performing load calculations, equipment selection and design, wet and dry side system design
- Knowledge of IBC, IMC and IECCC codes, DDC controls, HAP or Energy Pro
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is preferred but not required
- You have 3+ years of experience in HVAC design and construction
- Must have strong verbal and written communications skills in design and specifications
