What You Will Do
The Cybersecurity Technical Staff will become a team member for a highly visible Innovative Customer Experience (ICE) division, Cloud Services (CS) group that develops and manages Microsoft 365 (M365) and Azure services for Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). The core of your responsibilities will be to develop compliance policies, manage data requests, identify and mitigate vulnerabilities, perform cyber analysis, and coordinate with cyber security teams across LANL and the larger Department of Energy complex. The selected candidate will assist LANL in developing solutions across a broad range of services such as Power Platform, SharePoint, Copilot Chat, and Azure AI services. Your focus will be to align the security and governance policies at LANL with new AI technologies across the M365 team and to act as a resource for supporting customers, other technical staff, and executives across LANL.

Cybersecurity Technical Staff 2 ($94,500 - $154,600)

As a Copilot administrator you will primarily work on Microsoft 365 related technologies such as SharePoint Online and OneDrive with tools provided by Copilot and Defender features to prepare those cloud environments for the use of Artificial Intelligence such as Copilot for M365. You will help lay the foundation of data management based on LANL best practices for the tracking, retention, marking, and compliance of LANL data and ensure its proper use within the M365 environment using native tools such as Copilot and its Defender components.

Cybersecurity Technical Staff 3 ($114,700 - $191,200)
In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, the Cybersecurity Technician 3 will be required to:

  • Develop data loss policies with coordination with enterprise solutions for data management.
  • Assist in the modernization design processes used to support data management using M365 tools.
  • Develop user training plans, support documentation, and provide office hours to help support the use of AI within M365
  • Research and plan for future Copilot services such as Copilot for Power Platform and Copilot for Security
  • The successful candidate will perform data management duties related to M365 and related Azure products, including but not limited to:
  • Performs identification, monitoring, detection, analysis, and mitigation of moderately complex computer and network security vulnerabilities and incidents.
  • Evaluate new tools, techniques and propose effective solutions to cyber security issues.
  • Manage/Participate in audits.
  • Manage/Participate in cyber incident responses.
  • Contributes to the automation of NIST related standards.
  • Manage/Participate in technical reporting and briefings.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Purview and Defender products or similar data management software.
  • Understanding governance, deploying, and adopting Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or Data Management (such as eDiscovery, cateloging, data analytics, or similar).
  • Knowledge and/or experience in ZeroTrust principles to manage cloud infrastructures, such as user authentication or conditional access.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating sites for user training, document libraries, and developing communication plans to assist in user adoption.
Additional Job Requirements for Cybersecurity Technical Staff 3:
In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires:
  • Demonstrated Experience in Sharepoint Online or OneDrive.
  • Experience deploying Artifical Intelligence/ Machine Learning tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Data Management principles that include development of policies and acting as the subject matter expert to the team.
  • Advanced knowledge of M365 licensing models to ensure matching the user requirements.

Education/Experience at lower level :
Position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of 5 years related experience, or an
equivalent combination of education and experience. At this level, post graduate work may be required.

Education/Experience at higher level :
Position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of 8 years related experience, or an
equivalent combination of education and experience. At this level, post graduate work may be required.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with SharePoint Advanced Management (SAM) licensing to help manage access and data types for SharePoint and OneDrive.
  • Knowledge of emerging computing technologies in industry related to M365 and Azure such as Power Platform (such as PowerBI, Power Automate, and PowerApps) and Copilot.

Work Location : The work location for this position has the potential for remote work. Remote work is defined as working offsite that is greater than 2 hours of the Laboratory location. Reporting onsite may be periodically necessary. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Our team provides 24/7 support for the service and specific networks require the systems administrator to be on-site. This is accomplished with an on-call rotation that the teams manage.
