Plant Engineering & Facilities Manager

About the Opportunity:
An established and rapidly growing national food manufacturer is seeking an experienced Plant Engineering & Facilities Manager to lead capital projects, utilities, and facility operations at its VA manufacturing site. This highly visible role offers the opportunity to shape engineering standards, drive automation and efficiency initiatives, and ensure the facility operates at the highest levels of safety, compliance, and performance.

What You'll Do:
Engineering Leadership & Capital Projects
Serve as the site engineering lead, partnering with operations and corporate engineering teams.
Lead planning, approval, and execution of capital projects - including scope development, vendor management, installation, and startup.
Manage the CapEx portfolio and 3-year plan, including cash flow forecasting and funding documentation.
Drive cost savings and automation projects to improve plant performance.
Provide technical support and advanced troubleshooting to production and maintenance teams.
Facilities & Utilities Management:
Oversee facility infrastructure, grounds, and utilities including boilers, chillers/cooling towers, compressors, wastewater treatment, HVAC, and fire protection systems.
Ensure regulatory compliance for all safety, environmental, and food safety requirements.
Lead preventive maintenance programs and manage contractors effectively.
Champion energy efficiency initiatives and drive sustainable utility performance.
What We're Looking For:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Automation, Controls, or related field)
7+ years of engineering experience within food or other regulated manufacturing industries
Proven experience managing technical teams and leading plant or project engineering efforts
Strong knowledge of utility and facility systems, including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, compressed air systems, wastewater treatment, HVAC, fire protection, and building envelope systems
Skilled in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and hands-on problem solving in complex industrial environments
Ability to lead contractors and cross-functional teams to safely deliver projects, maintenance, and repairs
Familiarity with building codes, regulatory requirements, and compliance standards
