Job Title: Sr. PostgreSQL Developer / Application DBA
Work Location: 100% remote in the US (working EST Hours)
Compensation Range: $150,000 - $170,000 / year + benefits
Start Date: November 2025 (2 weeks from offer acceptance)



ABOUT OUR CLIENT / ABOUT THIS ROLE
Medix is currently seeking a PostgreSQL Developer / Application DBA for a full-time / direct hire opportunity with our Health System Client, located on the East Coast. With 13 operational hospitals and 30,000 employees, our client is an established network of care for over 1 million patients each year.


This role will be joining the centralized application developnent team as the Senior-most PostgreSQL Engineer focused on query / stored procedure development, query performance tuning and optimization. We are seeking individuals who had a minimum of 10 years experience, and a subject matter expertise in PostgreSQL Development.



RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Working in a Developer / Data Engineer capacity to create new PostgreSQL queries, and to engineer solutions to resolve slow / underperforming queries

  • Partnering closely with Application Developers through the Sprint lifecycles

  • Providing dedicated PostgreSQL query development, indexing and performance tuning expertise

  • Optimizing PostgreSQL queries, stored procedures, and database processes using EXPLAIN ANALYZE - keeping applications running optimally.

  • Optimizing queries, stored procedures, and supporting structures

  • Conducting PostgresSQL query performance, ensuring clean backend data to avoid bottlenecks.

  • Devloping Foreign Data Wrappers (FDW) to access data stored in disparate external servers.

  • Supporting data masking and data security posture management / data usage tracking

  • Supporting audit logging requirements for HIPAA-compliant applications.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & TECHNICAL SKILLS



  • Must have 10+ years of professional experience

  • Must have expert-level knowledge and skills with PostgreSQL - as a Developer / Application DBA

  • Expertise in query development and tuning

  • Expertise in PL/pgsql queries and PostgreSQL EXPLAIN statements

  • Prior experience with HIPAA / HITRUST environments a plus
