Job Description
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is seeking an experienced Software Engineer (Level 3) to provide application design, software development, and technical support for mission-critical systems used by the Department.
The selected candidate will perform complex systems analysis and programming work involving the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of specialized applications, with emphasis on software solutions supporting law enforcement and public safety operations.
All work products and deliverables produced under this engagement shall be considered works made for hire and will remain the sole property of the Texas Department of Public Safety. The position may require the successful completion of criminal background checks in accordance with Texas law.

Job Description

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy software applications supporting DPS business functions.
- Enhance and maintain existing systems for law enforcement and public safety data processing.
- Collaborate with DPS business users, analysts, and technical teams to define and implement system features.
- Analyze and troubleshoot complex software and database issues.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including systems specifications and user guides.
- Support legacy and modernized applications to ensure reliability, performance, and security standards.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards.
Minimum Qualifications
