Associate Avionics Systems Service Engineer - Display and Crew Alert Systems

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is looking for an Associate Avionics Systems Service Engineer to join their Display and Crew Alert Systems team in Seal Beach, CA.

As an Avionics Systems Service Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to assist airline customers in resolving real-time technical problems and issues by processing and analyzing Display and Crew Alert Systems data. This includes answering general systems functionality inquiries, resolving short to medium-term avionics or electrical related problem reports, investigating long-term issues, and providing proactive fleet guidance. You will work with operators and engineers to recover Airplane on Ground (AOG) situations, which sometimes requires working over the phone to troubleshoot an airplane halfway around the world or being on onsite with the operator to return a grounded airplane back to revenue service. All of this is done using the latest Boeing tools, technology, data analytics, and real-time fleet monitoring data.

Boeing Customer Support operates on a 24/7/365 basis. Employees must be willing to work flexible hours and/or non-standard shifts to support our fleets. International and domestic travel may be required.

Primary responsibilities:
  • Provides technical, design and informational support for basic production, product support or in-service issues.
  • Troubleshoots basic system problems consistent with operational protocols.
  • Supports and/or creates and provides basic technical documentation (e.g. Fleet Team Digest articles, Service Letters, Drawings, Specifications, documents, data sets, design folders, test requirements documents, manuals) in accordance with engineering processes and procedures for internal reference or external delivery.
  • Supports review of technical design, analysis, and production by reviewing documentation, participating in design reviews, and observing tests and audits to ensure compliance.
  • Assists with the investigation of problems to provide engineering design disposition of discrepancies.
  • Supports and/or leads the research of technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer.
  • Assists in designing and/or providing analysis of interim and final engineering solutions to return airplanes to revenue service.
  • Works with and possibly directing cross-functional teams to conduct root cause analysis and develop dispositions for complex design non-conformances.
  • Assists in the development of customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Assesses complex system event reports to determine potential safety issues.
  • Must be able to travel to Airlines to lead Technical / Executive review meetings and address complex technical issues.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • Able and willing to work 2nd shift (24/7/365-day operation. Saturday and Sunday may be required workdays).
  • Willing and able to travel 10% of the time domestically and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):
  • 1+ years of engineering experience.
  • 1+ years of project management experience.
  • Presentation experience.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple team functions.
  • Willingness to expand into technical areas without prior experience.
  • Desire to continuously improve our airplanes.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
