Job Title: Cloud Engineer (AWS / On-Prem / CI/CD)
Location:
- Preferred:Austin, TX or Fort Mill, SC
- Hybrid:3 days/week in-office preferred
Overview:
Astrategic and hands-on Environment Strategy & Integration Leadto drive the completion of a critical enterprise initiative involvingmulti-environment orchestration,third-party integration scaling, andCI/CD automation across cloud and on-prem workloads.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and drivethe end-to-end strategy to build scalable, parallel, and consistent environment patterns across both cloud and on-premises platforms.
- Lead thedesign and implementation of dynamic routing patternsfor third-party integrations (e.g., Adobe Sign, Salesforce) to support multiple environments using a single shared external QA endpoint.
- Build and roll outrepeatable environment configuration patternsto support feature branch testing, mergers & acquisitions integration, and upstream integration testing.
- Partner with DevSecOps, AppDev, Data, and Platform teams tosolve long-standing CI/CD bottlenecks, environment drift, and external service routing complexities.
- Assess and remediatehardcoded configurations, enabling fullversion-controlled, infrastructure-as-code
adoption across environments. - Coordinate efforts to establish and normalize environment mapping fordata foundations,legacy applications, andcontainer/VM-based workloads.
- Lead a small team (or influence cross-functional SMEs) todesign, pilot, and productionize patternsandinner-source toolingthat supports self-service environment creation and deployment.
- Support the transition away from Octopus Deploy to GitHub Actions, where applicable, in collaboration with CI/CD stakeholders.
- Work closely with technical and business leaders to gain alignment, socialize solutions, andtake ownership of executionthrough to delivery.
Must-Have Skills:
- Cloud Platform Expertise:
- Deep experience withAWS, including VPCs, IAM, Route53, networking, and environment management.
- Experience withTerraformfor infrastructure automation.
- Hybrid Deployment Proficiency:
- Comfortable working with bothcontainerized workloads (EKS, ECS)andVM-based/legacy applicationsinon-prem data centers.
- Ability to modernize on-prem deployments and integrate with cloud-native tooling.
- CI/CD Strategy & Implementation:
- Proven experience indefining CI/CD pipelinesacross mixed environments.
- Strong understanding ofGitHub Actions, with working knowledge ofOctopus Deployand strategies for phased migration.
- Environment Management & Routing Design:
- Ability todesign and implement routing patternsfor third-party integrations across multiple parallel environments.
- Understanding offeature branch environment automationandn/n+1 component testing strategies.
- Communication & Cross-Team Leadership:
- Strong facilitation skills tocoordinate across multiple teams and VPs.
- Ability to distill complex problems, define actionable strategies, and gain alignment across stakeholders.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience supportingmergers & acquisitions, especially with system consolidation and environment parallelization.
- Familiarity withconfiguration management challengesin legacy systems.
- Previous success intaking enterprise-scale environment transformation projects to the finish line.
- Experience withinner-sourcing practicesor shared platform tooling rollouts.
Work Model & Expectations:
- Candidate should be located in or willing torelocate to Austin, TX or Fort Mill, SC.
- In-office presence 2 days/weekpreferred initially to build relationships and gather undocumented tribal knowledge.
