Johnson & Johnson Medtech is recruiting for a Manager, User Experience Research (HFE). This position is located in Santa Clara, California.

Overview

You will lead all aspects of user experience (UX) research for robotics, establishing the discipline as a key pillar in the Human Factors & Experience Design (HFXD) team.

The team you'll manage includes both UX researchers and human factors engineers (HFE). The scope of the research will span multiple robotic platforms and projects, with a focus on investigating and improving our users' experience in a broad sense.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead UX research activities for the MONARCH and OTTAVA robotic systems
  • Manage a mixed team of UX researchers and HFEs, aligning their work and talents to our business needs
  • Champion UX in the business and partner closely with leaders in other HFE teams, design and product management to nurture a shared UX vision
  • Craft data-driven strategies and action plans to deliver UX improvements to our systems
  • Ensure the work produced by the team follows industry-standard research methodologies and processes
  • Grow the UXR team's capabilities both by developing existing talent and hiring in new talent as we continue to grow
Qualifications

Education:
  • BA/BS degree in human factors, cognitive psychology, industrial engineering, or other relevant field.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience (6 years with a master's, 4 years with a PhD)
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience as a people leader
  • Experience managing internal and external team members (e.g. vendors) to run user research
  • Advanced skill level in methods for qualitative and quantitative research
  • Track record of influencing both strategic and tactical product decisions with insights derived from research studies
  • Experience improving both physical and digital user interfaces through research
  • Effective organizational skills to advance research activities across multiple teams and projects

Preferred Skills & Experience:
  • Experience working across all phases of product development, from user requirements definition to validation of a design, all the way to launch and in-market monitoring
  • Experience managing UX research in a fast paced corporate environment

Other:
  • Ability to travel up to 25%, international and domestic, is required


The anticipated base pay range for this position is [$139,500] to [$224,825].

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
