The UC Davis Health School of Medicine, Department of Radiology is actively recruiting for a full-time MRI Physicist/Scientist at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank (commensurate with experience and credentials) in the in-Residence at 50% and Ladder (Regular) rank at 50% series, with expertise in Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy Imaging (MRSI) and Ultrasound and Machine Learning.
Criteria for the in-Residence and Professor Series include expectations to engage in teaching, independent research and creative work, demonstrate professional competence and activity, and provide University and public service.

We are seeking a rising star with a strong track record of first-author peer-reviewed research publications. Demonstrated expertise in MRSI as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, and a track record of obtaining extramural funding in the field of MRSI physics are essential, as is a track record of publication in ultrasound methodology, and in using machine learning techniques and image processing pipelines. Experience in neuroscience, cancer imaging, and microvasculature imaging is preferred but not required. Experience of both classroom teaching and research mentoring is essential. Strength in oral presentation, as evidenced by a track record of invited talks, is required.

The candidate is expected to make a significant research impact on MRSI physics/technology and related research areas via their independent research program, contribute to facilitating cross-departmental research efforts in collaboration with Ph.D. and M.D. faculty and others in scholarly activities, including participation in research programs being carried out within Radiology and other Departments. Teaching expectations include actively engaging in teaching of residents, fellows, graduate students, and medical technologists, and participation in departmental and institutional quality improvement and value initiatives. The successful candidate will also facilitate efforts to develop an ultrasound methodology research program within the Department.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to assist in clinical MRI operations, including the Quality Assurance Program, and may participate in the MRI Safety Committee and associated tasks. The incumbent may also provide technical support to the Health Physics Section within UC Davis Health. The successful candidate will participate in professional and healthcare conferences and in training programs to represent the interests of UC Davis and advance Radiology Physics practice.

The salary range for this position is $155,000-$195,000. This position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan.
