Position: Protection & Control Engineer (Electrical Safety Design Engineer)
Industry: Energy
Type: 12-month Contract + extensions
Location: Charlotte, NC (5x on-site)
Interviews: 1-2 rounds one over Teams w/ hiring manager, potential second round over Teams w/ panel
Day to day :
- Produce and release engineering design packages (drawings, BOMs, settings files)
- Design and update P&C schematics, wiring diagrams, and relay settings
- Manage multiple projects at different stages, coordinating with project managers, engineers, and field teams
- Perform relay settings calculations and coordination studies
- Support construction, testing, and commissioning with technical guidance
- 5-6+ years in P&C Engineering
- BS or Masters in Engineering
- Written/Oral skills to explain to non-technical individuals
- Experience using industry standards, ex. IEEE and NERC
- High-voltage substation exposure (69kV-345kV)
- CAD proficiency- producing drawings/schematics
- PE license
- SCADA settings and integration experience
- Prior experience with estimating, scheduling, or front-end engineering design (FEED)
Salary and Compensation:
The hourly rate for this position is between $60 - $65 per hour. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
