Job Title: Sr IT Project Manager
Location: Worcester, MA
Duration: 8+ Months
Brief Information:
Supporting the BioTherapeutics & Genetic Medicine (BGM) digital transformation effort, specifically for the Information Research (IR) function.
The role is part of a multi-year, multi-phase program focused on transitioning infrastructure and capabilities in early discovery related to molecular modalities, including biologics, RNA, sRNA, and AAV.
The Senior Program Manager will lead 3 4 major IT projects related to digital workflows, onboarding, and integration across BGM teams.
Coordination responsibilities span internal technical teams, external vendors, and business analysts to align process flows, requirements, and timelines.
The candidate will support governance structures, steering committees, and executive reporting, acting as a central point of contact across stakeholders.
Although there are no direct reports, the person will have program-level responsibilities and must be confident in managing project risks, escalations, and delivering cross-functional alignment.
Will work closely with Change Management, Business Process Owners, and the BGM Transformation Champion to ensure smooth onboarding of new applications and workflows.
The role includes capturing and organizing project information, guiding User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and ensuring successful workflow integration across discovery groups.
While early discovery and biotech experience is strongly preferred, it is not a requirement.
Systems involved are not GxP-regulated or validated, but an understanding of scientific workflows and data governance in R&D is highly beneficial.
Reporting to the Senior Portfolio Manager for Early Discovery TA Support (Neuroscience and Immunology) at the Worcester site.
Qualifications & Requirements / Skillset:
5 10 years (or more) of experience managing IT SDLC projects, ideally with exposure to large-scale digital transformation in life sciences or early discovery.
Strong program and project management experience, with capability to manage multiple concurrent phases (POCs, pilot efforts, scaling phases).
Experience with workflow automation, digital transformation, and data governance in scientific environments is highly beneficial.
Experience with tools like Smartsheet for dashboard building and project tracking is a strong plus.
Strong communication and presentation skills, particularly in building executive-level presentations.
Experience coordinating across multiple business and technical teams, including vendor management.
PMP certification is strongly desired, if not required.
Experience with data integrations is important; data migration experience is helpful but less critical.
No need for architecture expertise as that responsibility lies with another team.
Familiarity with scientific technology, bioinformatics, lab-based IT, and early discovery workflows is a significant bonus.
Familiarity with gene data product suites and backend data governance or data lake/visualization tools is a plus.
Degree is strongly preferred.
