RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Greenwood Village, CO that is seeking a hands-on Observability Engineer with deep expertise in the Grafana observability stack, cloud-native environments (primarily AWS), and strong experience with monitoring and telemetry for containerized workloads. This role will focus on building and optimizing observability pipelines for modern cloud infrastructure - including Docker, Kubernetes, and edge router devices - with a clear emphasis on performance visibility, alerting, and long-term metrics storage. If you live and breathe observability and can describe the role Prometheus plays in a Grafana infrastructure without hesitation, this is the opportunity for you.

Key Responsibilities:
* Observability Platform Ownership: Design, maintain, and optimize observability infrastructure using the Grafana stack including Grafana (frontend), Prometheus (time-series DB), Mimir (long-term metrics storage), SNMP pullers, and Graphite
* Cloud Monitoring: Implement and manage monitoring for AWS-based services, ensuring visibility into containers, microservices, serverless components, and networking
* Container Observability: Build observability for Docker and Kubernetes workloads, leveraging cloud-native tools and integrations
* Data Ingestion & Alerting: Create intelligent alerts and dashboards to monitor infrastructure health, application behavior, and system performance
* Tool Integration: Integrate and support observability tooling across cloud and limited on-prem environments
* Log & Metrics Analysis: Utilize DataDog and Splunk (not Loki) for event and log monitoring. Understanding Loki is a plus, but not required
* Performance Optimization: Help tune systems for performance, availability, and scalability by analyzing monitoring outputs and advising on corrective actions
* Collaboration & Enablement: Work across teams to enable developers, SREs, and platform teams to self-serve observability needs effectively

REQUIREMENTS:
* Strong understanding of Docker and Kubernetes telemetry and monitoring
* Practical experience with DataDog and Splunk
* Ability to design and manage monitoring across hybrid cloud/on-prem setups
* Deep understanding of time-series data and dashboard-driven observability practices

Expert-level experience with the full Grafana observability stack, including:
* Grafana (dashboard and visualization frontend)
* Prometheus (metrics collection and querying)
* Mimir (long-term metrics storage)
* Graphite (legacy support or expansion)
* SNMP pullers (for router/device monitoring)
* Cloud Infrastructure Monitoring in AWS environments

Preferred/Nice to Have:
* Experience in the telecommunications or WiFi domain
* Familiarity with Loki and transitioning skills to Splunk-based setups
* Scripting or automation experience in languages like Python, Go, or Bash
* Exposure to IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) for observability stack deployment
