Job Title: Lead Analyst - Database & Application Support
In office Location: Kirkwood, NY
Reports to: Manager - Billing & Risk Management
The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from: $103,939 - $129,924
Job Summary
The Lead Analyst - Database & Application will facilitate the efficient processing, payment and reporting of critical financial data related to NYSEG and RGE wholesale electric, natural gas, and interconnection services activities, during, but not limited to, the monthly closing process. These roles involve collaboration with various local and global departments, as directed by managers and members in the NY Energy Services and Transmission Services teams.
The position focuses on the development, maintenance, and documentation of SQL databases and Microsoft .NET applications, along with providing technical support to NY Energy Services and Transmission Services team members. It involves interaction with Avangrid IT, counterparty technical support, and software and hardware vendor support. The role includes collaborating with department employees to develop requirements documents, designing, building, and testing SQL databases or Microsoft .NET applications (or enhancements to existing ones) to meet these requirements, and then moving them into production and providing ongoing support.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain department SQL databases and Microsoft .NET applications. Proactively monitor and ensure uninterrupted service for NY Energy Services and Transmission Services Departments.
- Interface with Avangrid Database Administrators (DBAs) to resolve database issues related to Energy Services involving Avangrid-maintained databases.
- Document and enhance new and existing code to improve efficiency and robustness.
- Support the timely processing, payment and reporting of critical financial data by supporting market data availability and providing application support.
- Support NY Energy Services and Transmission Services employees in resolving IT-related issues by collaborating with the employee, Avangrid IT and/or vendors.
- Ensure daily market data is downloaded, validated, and integrated into appropriate database or applications.
- Assist in the technical evaluation of new applications for the NY Energy Services and/or Transmission Services Departments. Understand the needs of department employees and provide database or application solutions.
- Attend ISO working group meetings to understand changes to data dictionaries and file layouts. Design, test and document tasks to ensure functionality on a 24/7/365 basis.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field with a minimum of seven years of relevant experience.
- Data Analysis: Proficiency in analyzing large volumes of data from various sources and platforms.
- SQL and Database Fundamentals: Strong understanding of SQL programming and database fundamentals, including multidimensional and relational database design.
- Application Development: The ability to create applications from scratch, maintain existing applications using Microsoft .NET.
- Presentation Skills: Expertise in creating impactful presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint, with the ability to present analytics findings and recommendations to an executive-level in both oral and written form. Demonstrated creativity in designing visually appealing and compelling presentations.
- Microsoft Office Experience: Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of applications, with advanced skills in Excel.
- Adaptability: Ability to learn and configure new applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Wholesale Energy Markets: Knowledge of wholesale energy markets, experience managing large data sets, with proficiency in Excel and Microsoft VBA.
- Project Management: Strong project management skills, including solid organization, flexibility, and attention to detail.
- SQL Expertise: Extensive background in SQL database development and administration, including query optimization.
- Data Visualization Tools: Familiarity with data visualization tools, especially Power BI.
- Database Experience: Good understanding of database data retrieval, SQL, and basic database administration.
- Scripting Languages: Basic proficiency and/or experience in scripting languages such as C# or Python.
- SFTP Knowledge: Familiarity with Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP).
