Kratos Antenna Solutions is currently seeking an experienced Satellite Systems Engineer/Project Manager to analyze customer and company requirements for new and existing satellite earth stations, integrated gateways and other satellite antenna systems. This position will interact with our customers.
The Lead Systems Engineer/Project Manager is a technical Management opportunity within Kratos Antenna Solutions. They will work with other members of the company engineering and support team to deliver satellite earth station based projects. The Lead Systems Engineer/Project Manager will help to drive best practices in the systems delivery team, working within the system engineering group, dealing with technical design, delivery and project engineering management. This position may require up to 30% travel for extended trips to customer sites and other locations within Kratos.

The position includes the following key tasks:
- Technically Lead / Manage projects
- Work at all stages of project delivery to ensure timely delivery and specification compliance
- Deliver projects in accordance with the companies' procedures and standard working practices
- Work with other team members as required to deliver projects
- This may include in-house personnel, contractors or local labor, plant machinery operators etc
- Liaise with Customers as required on technical and commercial matters to progress project delivery
- Create appropriate project design drawings, documents and test plans
- Create appropriate technical analysis, such as Satellite Link Budgets, satellite earth station level analysis, EIRP and G/T calculations, etc
- Attend customer design meetings
- Maintain a project time plan, including global overview or detailed day-by-day site plan
- Support or Lead; Earth Station FAT/SAT program
- Help to organize site phase logistics (facilitate team travel & accommodation, liaise with local freight forwarders for equipment deliveries, etc)
- Provide/organize training and support to customers
- Provide analysis and resolution of RF issues in company-provided systems
- Provide advanced troubleshooting support to the technical support team
- Support the Tender team as needed
- Work within Kratos Health & Safety policies and good working practices on projects and project site activities.
Experience and Skills
- BSEE level (or equivalent) and have 5+ years' experience in a related telecommunications role.
- Hands-on experience of satellite communications systems design and/or implementation, preferably in the above segment, together with a proven track record at executing the requirements stated above.
- Proven ability to interact effectively with customers - in meetings, presentations, discussion of project plans and working out remedial action plans.
- Innovative thinker and problem solver, exhibit great attention to detail, be capable of completing multiple projects within budgeted timeframes, and be a team player.
- Strong technical understanding of technologies associated with the design and implementation of satellite ground segment equipment and systems
- Understanding of project planning processes
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work as part of a distributed team
- Ability to work on government and military programs subject to the United States International Traffic in Arms Regulations (\"ITAR,\" 22 CFR 120-130), and potentially on programs that require a United States government security clearance.
- Must meet the eligibility requirements under the ITAR and eligible for most levels of a US Government security clearance
- Knowledge of IP technologies is advantageous
- Knowledge of relevant software, such as AutoCAD, Solidworks, Python, MatLab, MS Office, and SatMaster Pro would be advantages
- Proven project management skills, as necessary for the effective management of satellite earth station project delivery
