Job Description

The Lockheed Martin Artificial Intelligence Center (LAIC) team is seeking a high energy experienced individual with a strong background in UI/UX development and analysis to support the Applied AI team and specifically the Beacon Framework portfolio, focusing on a broad range of projects across the LAIC. The team is focused on exploiting small, innovative and agile teams to rapidly iterate and mature solutions from prototypes to deployment for utilization across the Lockheed Martin enterprise and in the field for our customers.

The selected candidate will focus on developing a common operating picture for our DoD partners, combining large volumes of data with AI sensemaking insight to provide a unified and intuitive interface. As a UX Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing software products that integrate Artificial Intelligence and data analytics capabilities, with a strong emphasis on user-centered design solutions. This will involve creating prototypes and proof-of-concepts, designing intuitive and interactive visualizations, and collaborating with data scientists and AI engineers to integrate data analytics and AI capabilities into the common operating picture.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in UX design principles, human-computer interaction, and data visualization, as well as experience with design tools. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are also essential, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. The candidate may be expected to assume technical lead responsibilities and mentor junior engineers in UX design and development best practices. By joining the Lockheed Martin AI Center (LAIC) team, the selected candidate will play a critical role in supporting our DoD partners and advancing the development of AI-powered solutions.

The selected candidate can work at any major Lockheed Martin facility or part-time remotely.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience Design, Computer Science, or related field

3+ years of experience in UX design and development, with a focus on creating intuitive and interactive interfaces

Strong portfolio of UX design work, including examples of user research, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing

Experience with design tools such as Sketch, Figma, or Adobe XD, and familiarity with front-end development technologies such as React, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

Desired skills

Top Secret Clearance

Experience deploying AI-enabled systems in multiple environments (e.g. cloud, edge devices)

Experience with high-performance computing

Experience interfacing with databases (SQL, MongoDB, etc.)

Experience leading other engineers or small teams

Familiarity with transitioning prototype software to production

Ability to work remotely

Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $89,300 - $157,550. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.

Premium Pay Statement
