Position: Senior DataStage Developer
Location: 4 days on site in Columbus, OH
Duration: 6+ months Contract to hire
Job Description:
The team is seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior DataStage Developer with Python expertise. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust ETL solutions using IBM DataStage and Python to support critical financial and regulatory reporting functions. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in ETL and scripting, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for delivering high-quality data solutions in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL workflows using IBM DataStage to support data integration and transformation needs.
- Develop Python scripts for data processing, automation, and integration with ETL workflows.
- Collaborate with business analysts, data architects, and other developers to understand requirements and translate them into scalable solutions.
- Write and optimize SQL queries for Snowflake and other relational databases.
- Develop and maintain Unix/Linux shell scripts and Python scripts to support ETL automation and job scheduling.
- Participate in incident resolution and root cause analysis for data-related issues.
- Support change management processes, including documentation and deployment of code changes.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications and data flow diagrams.
- Ensure adherence to data governance, security, and compliance standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with IBM DataStage development.
- Strong experience with Python for data processing and automation.
- Experience with Snowflake or other cloud-based data platforms.
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux shell scripting.
- Solid understanding of relational databases and SQL.
- Experience with incident and change management processes (ITIL framework preferred).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to work onsite 4 days a week in Columbus, OH or Detroit, MI.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the banking or financial services industry.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- Exposure to data quality, data lineage, and metadata management tools.
