Job Description – Application Manager

This individual will be responsible for managing project execution, monitoring team performance, ensuring optimal resource allocation, and overseeing vendor relationships. The Application Manager will also ensure that cross-work stream interactions are efficiently managed and that all deliverables align with business objectives, timelines, and quality standards. A comprehensive technical background and proven hands-on capabilities across diverse IT disciplines are essential for this position.


Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate coordination between cross-functional teams and work streams to ensure effective communication, knowledge sharing, and alignment.

  • Drive collaboration between different teams, ensuring each work stream is on track with clear ownership and timelines.

  • Act as the main point of contact between work streams, ensuring dependencies are identified and managed proactively.

  • Develop comprehensive project plans outlining goals, milestones, deadlines, and responsibilities.

  • Track the progress of all work streams, ensuring alignment with project objectives and timelines.

  • Address delays or issues to ensure smooth project progression.

  • Monitor team capacity and bandwidth to ensure optimal resource allocation and prevent overburdening.

  • Reallocate resources as necessary to maintain balanced workloads.

  • Monitor and evaluate team performance using data insights to identify areas for improvement.

  • Ensure tasks are completed on time and aligned with shifting priorities.

  • Evaluate project outcomes and highlight key learnings for continuous improvement.

  • Identify and mitigate potential risks, including security and compliance-related vulnerabilities.

  • Develop and implement corrective action plans as needed.

  • Ensure alignment with industry security policies, standards, and best practices.

  • Work with security teams to review and validate application security architecture across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.

  • Provide security guidance to development and DevOps teams throughout the SDLC.

  • Assist in implementing secure CI/CD pipelines with integrated security checks.

  • Guide proper usage of cloud security tools (e.g., IAM, encryption, network controls) on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

  • Help enforce infrastructure security standards (e.g., patching, provisioning, hardening).

  • Participate in threat modeling and risk assessments to proactively reduce vulnerabilities.

  • Oversee vendor relationships to ensure timely delivery and compliance with standards.

  • Resolve project-related issues collaboratively with vendors.

  • Ensure vendors comply with organizational and cybersecurity requirements.

  • Identify areas to streamline workflows, improve communication, and increase operational efficiency.

  • Promote best practices in project management, resource optimization, and team collaboration.

  • Continuously embed security best practices into lifecycle and management processes.


Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ experience in application management, project oversight, and team coordination.

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with experience managing multiple work streams.

  • Proven collaboration with security and engineering teams to ensure secure application design.

  • In-depth understanding of cloud security principles including IAM, encryption, and network controls.

  • Experience with secure CI/CD processes and tools like Terraform, Ansible, GitOps.

  • Familiarity with security platforms, vulnerability management, container security, and SIEM tools.

  • Knowledge of secure development and adherence to IT security standards.

  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (e.g., NIST, HIPAA, CJIS).

  • Experience managing vendor performance and contracts.

  • Proficiency with project management methodologies and tools.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for managing cross-functional relationships.

  • Effective problem-solving skills with experience in risk management.
