Job Description

Torch Technologies is seeking anInformation Systems Administrator within the Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) Automated Management System (PAMS). PAMS is an application supporting AF Active Duty, Air National Guard (ANG), and Civilian users. PAMS supports the AF Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) community by providing single source access for management of AF Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) inventories in support of the Air Force Metrology and Calibration Program (AFMETCAL). This position supports AFLCMC/GBM at Gunter Maxwell in Montgomery, AL.

Responsibilities:

This position requires a highly motivated individual to provide systems administrative support which comprises a multitude of analysis, procedural competency, and process improvement strategies with increasing levels of responsibility to include but not limited to:
  • Manage and automate infrastructure using Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible.
  • Design, maintain, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.
  • Maintain, monitor, and deploy AWS services including EC2, RDS, Elastic Beanstalk, S3, Lambda, ECR and CloudWatch.
  • Perform system administration for Linux, Windows Server, and associated services like Tomcat and NGINX.
  • Administer and optimize Oracle databases and write/maintain PL/SQL scripts.
  • Implement and enforce system hardening and compliance using STIGs, CIS Benchmarks, and PKI.
  • Implement, configure, and manage identity and access via Keycloak.
  • Ensure application and infrastructure security through tools like Nessus, Checkmarx, SonarQube, Dependency-Track and CAST.
  • Monitor systems and troubleshooting issues with an eye toward proactive resolution and root cause analysis.
  • Track work in Jira and maintain clear, up-to-date documentation in Confluence.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts in Bash, PowerShell, and Python.
  • Deploy, configure, and manage virtual machines in cloud environments.
  • Manage and deploy container images to AWS ECR (Elastic Container Registry) for use with containerized applications.
  • Implement and manage containerized environments using Docker.
  • Use Bitbucket and Git for version control and repository management.
  • Support CloudOne mission application operations and deployment workflows.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system, networking, and virtualization issues.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies and support security audits.
  • Collaborate effectively within an Agile development and operational team to drive improvements, meet sprint goals, and deliver on-time results.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's Degree in a related field and at least three years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, three of which must be in the DoD OR
  • Seven years of directly related experience with proper certifications five of which must be in the DoD.
  • 3+ years of experience in system administration or DevOps roles in complex cloud environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • AWS infrastructure (EC2, VPC, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, S3, ECR, Elastic Beanstalk)
    • Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation)
    • Automation and Configuration Management (Ansible)
    • CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Bitbucket, Artifactory)
    • Linux and Windows Server administration
    • Containerization (Docker)
    • Databases (Oracle)
  • Experience with implementing vulnerability management tools (e.g., Nessus, Checkmarx, SonarQube).
  • Proficiency with scripting and automation (Bash, PowerShell, Python).
  • Solid knowledge of networking concepts, load balancers, and security groups.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.
  • Hands-on experience deploying and managing virtual machines (e.g., AWS EC2)
  • Experience managing and deploying container images to AWS ECR (Elastic Container Registry)
  • Experience applying STIG and CIS Benchmark hardening on Linux and Windows Server systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to document and communicate clearly.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in mission-driven environments.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment, contributing to sprint planning, retrospectives, and delivery cycles.
  • Experience with the implementation and configuration of Keycloak for identity management.
  • Familiarity with the use of CAST, SonarQube, Checkmarx, and Dependency-Track.
  • Experience in secure software development lifecycle (SDLC) and DevSecOps environments.
  • Prior experience supporting DoD or other federal customers.
  • Experience supporting and managing CloudOne mission applications.
  • Prior work in DoD, DHS, or federal IT environments.
  • Understanding of government cybersecurity compliance.
  • Must maintain clearance at required level.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification is required.
  • Preferred Certifications:
    • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate
    • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate
