Director of Marketing

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Marketing to lead the firm's marketing, business development, and public relations efforts. This executive-level position plays a key role on the Leadership Team, collaborating closely with the President and studio leaders to shape and execute initiatives that drive brand awareness, support growth, and reinforce the firm's mission and values.

This is a high-impact opportunity for a marketing leader with deep experience in professional services, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for purposeful design.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing Leadership & Strategy
  • Lead development and execution of firmwide marketing strategy aligned with business goals
  • Manage and mentor the marketing team across offices
  • Oversee key deliverables including proposals, presentations, and marketing collateral
  • Direct website strategy, content, and digital engagement
  • Develop and manage the firm's annual marketing budget
  • Improve systems, workflows, and tools to enhance marketing efficiency (Deltek experience a plus)

Business Development
  • Support studio-specific and firmwide business development planning
  • Guide lead generation, pipeline tracking, and CRM reporting
  • Plan and execute special events and outreach efforts
  • Coach staff for client interviews and pursuit strategies

Public Relations & Communications
  • Oversee PR strategy with support from internal and external resources
  • Manage the firm's social media calendar and content
  • Develop press releases, award submissions, and speaking opportunities
  • Generate story ideas and content to elevate firm visibility across markets

What You Bring

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in professional services marketing
  • Demonstrated success leading and growing a marketing team
  • Expertise in business development and public relations strategy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and related tools
  • Experience developing and managing marketing budgets

Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in architecture, engineering, construction, or planning (A/E/C)
  • Familiarity with urban design, landscape architecture, and land planning
  • CPSM certification and/or active SMPS membership
  • Master's degree in marketing or related discipline

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in marketing leadership roles within professional services, ideally in the A/E/C industry.
  • Proven success developing and executing firm-wide marketing and business development strategies.
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to manage, mentor, and grow a marketing team across multiple offices.
  • Expertise in proposal development, strategic pursuits, CRM systems, and marketing analytics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a sharp eye for brand storytelling and public relations.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field; CPSM certification and/or SMPS membership preferred.
