Network/Telecommunications Engineer

Our government client is looking for an experienced Network/Telecommunications Engineer on a hybrid 5+ months renewable contract role in Raleigh, NC.

Position: Network/Telecommunications Engineer
W2 RATE - $55/hr

Job Overview:
Expected Skills: Able to work without assistance; able to manage multiple complex work efforts; may have advanced education; should have extensive industry experience. Excellent time management and documentation skills. Excellent communications skills (verbal and written).

Description (including, but not limited to):
1. Design, implementation and troubleshooting of both the hardware and software necessary for a LAN and wireless computer network.
2. Specialization in Cisco/Meraki wireless products, methodologies, implementation and troubleshooting.
3. Extensive experience with Cisco LAN products, methodologies, implementation and troubleshooting
4. Extensive experience with Cisco ISE methodologies, implementation and troubleshooting.
5. Experience with rack-based UPS battery implementation, monitoring and alerting
6. Work with business units on obtaining price quotes for new equipment and coordinating installation of purchased equipment and software.
7. Work with IT teams and management and provide reports, summaries and documentation for all tasks and projects worked on.

Daily task examples (including but not limited to):
o Obtain and send price quotes to business units based on environment design
o Coordinate equipment orders and installation/configuration
o Equipment installation and configuration
o Update Wireless Controllers to new version of Software
o Update Cisco ISE to newer version - ISE 3.1.0 is the current Gold Star Release (requires new license
model and requires a valid SSL Certificate on the Cisco Virtual ISE appliances)
o Replace campus closet UPS batteries as needed.
o Network UPS Units using network adapter card. Add UPS VLAN to that buildings for the UPS to use.
o Update SNMP Strings/NTP/Username/Passwords on each Unit
o Create a spreadsheet with Building and Room numbers of located units and if possible date of last
installed battery.
o Add UPS units to monitoring systems
o Attend weekly meetings
o Work with other IT teams as part of implementation projects
o Create reports and summaries as needed.
o Create systems documentation as needed.

Required/Desired Experience:

• 7 years of PaloAlto Firewall administration, configuration and troubleshooting (including Panorama). Required
• 7 years of General firewall communications troubleshooting including applications communications and secure communications protocols.

• 10 years of Cisco LAN Infrastructure including Software Defined Access (SDA) support and troubleshooting Required
• 10 years of Network infrastructure security vulnerability assessment, research and remediation. Required
• 7 years of Cisco ISE administration, support and troubleshooting Required
• 7 years of Cisco Catalyst Center administration, support and troubleshooting. Required
• 7 years of Experience with ServiceNow ticketing, change and configuration management modules Required
• 10 years of Vendor and client interaction and communications. Required
• 10 years of Technical information collection and documentation. Required
• 10 years of Team Interaction and Communications. Required
• Candidate must be local to be able to come onsite as needed. Required
